I know I laughed so hard at Han Li spraying talismans when going through the manhua recently, watching it makes me laugh even harder. ROFL.
Usually other cultivation shows have a intra-clan/sect tournament within the first dozen episodes, but not this one xD.
We finally have our first full 1v1 tournament after 150+ episodes and no, the Prime Star colosseum/arena did not count.
Another excellent episode, despite the fillers 😉 It felt padded for runtime with those longer takes at the beginning, which usually signals they want to slow down, but it does mess up the pace a bit. No biggie, still enjoyed the show. If it’s not apparent, just try imagining shortening the dialogue exchange between and Han and Silvermoon, or even cut out some scenes out, and the story will still stand on its own (the “falling into water” scene, for example. That’s a spirit that can fly, nimble AF; why is it falling off a ledge like a toddler? Lol).
That was a good start to the competition. Han Li standing there fanning himself with treasures xD

Staying consistent. The first thing we see Ying Yue/Silvermoon casually mimicking Han Li’s little chin grabbing habit whenever he enters deep thoughts at around 3:30 of the episode (which he does often) and making Han Li feeling awkward.
About Han Li uncomfortable with being called Master or young master. Keep in mind that Han Li was born a farmer, then for the past 200 years, he has been bullied by people in power. It is easy to tie Master with those who oppressed him. As for no to Young Master. Han Li’s recent adversary Wen Tianren was called Young Master who is arrogant and hypocritical and got backstabbed by a beautiful girl, Chaos Star Ocean’s number 1 beauty Ziling. Considering Silvermoon is a girl, Han Li probably don’t wanna be Young Master 2.0.
Anyways, most of this episode is to show stark contrast with Yellow Maple Valley again. I think this is more like Drifting Cloud Sect and its disciples (particularly Sun Huo) earning Points with Han Li.
Like if you want, go back to watch the part where Sun Huo and the Senior Brother went to apologize to Han Li to the amusement of Han Li and Silvermoon.
Notice the other Senior Brother’s surprised expression when Sun Huo paid Han Li the Spirit Stones. Not sure if the translation tells you properly, the Fox catching was collectively decided by everyone. So technically it shouldn’t fall on Sun Huo alone to pay for Han Li. He shouldered the fees for everyone.
Keep in mind that back in Yellow Maple where Han Li nearly got killed for his Foundation Pill, then forced to ‘willingly offer his Foundation Pill’ to the Elder of the guy who nearly killed him for safe keeping, nobody cares about low level cultivators who has no background or talents is the normalcy in this particular Cultivator World. Drifting Cloud’s heartwarming environment where people actually takes care of everyone is an anomaly. In Han Li eyes, it also means this Sect is a rare treasure, a jewel among shit deserving to be preserve and taken away to be polished.

Oh the Clarity Spirit Water Han Li and Silvermoon talked about in their hideout? It doesn’t just work for Low Level Cultivators. It can have effect on high level Cultivators, just need lots of it. For it to work on Han Li’s level, he probably needs to take so much he’ll be peeing for 12 hours non-stop afterwards😏
Next you see Mu Peiling and the flower is Sunflower. Again telling us everything we need to know about her: Sunflower represents joy, positivity and faith in future, strength, resilience, loyalty and affection. Since we can see Mu Peiling frowning because she’s being bothered by a forced marriage which you’ll see shortly after. Plus her flying device has that particular phoenix tail embroidery on it and her Lady Xiang’s Wine Gourd all points to Loyalty and Affection: She desires Love but unable to fight back against her family arranging marriage for her and can only drown herself in wine.
Han Li was not told by Mu Peiling his Waif- I mean direct Superior about the Sword Competition. This is because Mu Peiling knows that the Competition was just an event where the Ancient Swords flex at the other two Sects and collect protection money in the form of Spirit Securing Pills from the Drifting Cloud Sect. You can see from following points
Next Han Li being taken to the Competition by Mu. We see the guy that she’s forced into arranged marriage. She ignores him, he use their family’s arrangements to oppress her. No wonder she don’t like him. So she use Cultivation Level to force him to back down temporarily. Most likely she didn’t do this on purpose, but bringing Han Li with her caused people to notice him. Caused Du Dong, the Demonic Faction Spy (Han Li stated he concealed it well, but HL can see the Demonic energies in him) to approach Han Li.
Han Li using a tiny fraction of his Divine/8.5th Sense to threaten Du Dong is to make the guy keep his distance from him. HL is not afraid the guy will rat him out. Because ratting Han Li out to the higher Ups will put himself under the view of the Core Stages. Fairy Song Yu, the so-called number 1 beauty of the Drifting Cloud Sect has very strong detection talents.
Exposing Han Li, he’ll get interrogated and kicked out of the Sect at worse. Most likely they’ll accept him as an Elder, albeit distrustful of him but life is unlikely to be in danger. Du Dong getting exposed, he’ll die. The Core Stages will kill him so hard, he’ll probably resurrect and die again.
Song Yu noticed Han Li looking at her. Foreshadowing he got noticed and why he got summoned by her in the next Episode. She is born with very powerful detection talents. I’ll avoid the details, but how they treat Han Li also confirms that it is not going to end well for Du Dong if he exposed him there and then.
Next, we see the Cultivation Realms hierarchy is really not that strict in this Sect. Sun Huo hanging out with Qi Refiners is not an exception. You can see other Foundation Stages hanging out with Qi Refiners. This is all to show Drifting Clouds is truly a normal place in such an abnormal Cultivator World.
Next we see Sun Huo displaying great talents
He allowed his opponent Jin Rong to go first. Casually deflected both swords, the 2nd sword he hits harder, I noticed it was easier for Sun Huo to just deflect the 2nd sword to the side, instead he hits it back to her. Interesting to note, when the camera moves to his opponent, the 1st sword came back to her hand easily, while the 2nd sword, she has to focus and lift her hand to grab it. In other words, Sun Huo was holding back, if he hits the sword far to the side, she’ll need more effort to get the sword back and have bigger opening. This is not the only time!
When Sun Huo and the girl gets into close combat, look carefully at the point where the girl dodged his attack and fly up, Sun Huo’s sword followed her up, he could’ve stabbed… killed her in a life and death battle. Instead, he switch to defending.
3rd round, they started using Cultivator magic again. Jinrong’s Swords are blue color, this signifies Water Element. Water beats Fire. Sun Huo is Fire Element. The fact that he has clear advantage throughout the magic fight, shows how strong he is.
Notice how the magic skill they used are similar just different elements? That’s the Sect’s common skill. It was obvious that Sun Huo could’ve beaten her with common skill. Instead, Sun Huo used Hidden Sword Peak’s signature Hidden Sword Technique to beat her.
This is showing respect… well, there’s a possibility that Sun Huo is trying to rizz up the girl.
Next the Elder said along the lines of “they are good but nothing compared to you” to Song Yu. At a glance it sounds like he was praising her. But looking how she behaved later, I think it was telling her not to flex too much because earlier she single-handedly completed the Formation was a feat that even Han Li, a gifted Formation Master says is impressive. It was to tell her that she’s youngest of the Core Formation. So even Drifting Clouds is not without politics. This is clear when the Core Stages Elders leave, she waited last before leaving.
Next is the Cashshopper Han Li vs F2P Senior Brother. Senior bro wanted to hold back and not hurt Han Li.
Han Li also held back. You can see most of his Talismans’ fireballs detonated before touching the poor f2p dude’s shields, only about 4-5 hit the shields and when his shields vanished, none of the fireballs actually exploded close enough to harm a cultivator.
In the earlier episodes, Han Li already hinted to Sun Huo with his statement “Before joining Difting Clouds, he had some savings, proceeds to give Sun Huo a big bag of Spirit Stones” HL lend his Spirit Stones so easily because he already intended to use Talismans and tools overwhelm foes if he has to fight in order to conceal his cultivation level.
Showing the Spirit Stones in a way, helps him create the image of a quiet rich guy. Didn’t work too well because Han Li still caught the eyes of the higher ups, though this is because that one Song Yu.
PS: Noticed how other Foundation Stages are standing with everyone else while watching the match, Mu Peiling is the odd one out who is watching from the air? So she’s a bit of loner?
Next Episode PV, Han Li’s Soul Weeper finish evolving into a Black Gorilla and higher ups got suspicious of Han Li and Song Yu started testing Han Li.
From the way they are progressing, it will take at least mid-August for the Strongest Early Nascent Soul in the World to descend upon us.
