The entire 1st half of the episode was filled with unease and death traps. Mostly for Silvermoon because Han Li owns the Ruyi Scepter, hence he technically owns her. If they fight, she is likely going to be killed.
But because Silvermoon has been observing Han Li since he obtained the Scepter just before he gotten the Void Cauldron. (Note: This means she saw Han Li obtained Xuan Gu’s Pocket Dimension of skulls and bones and all of Extreme Yin Island’s Skills, saw him being soft to the Gongsun girl at the start of this season, has the intelligence, cunning and guts to setup and fight 3 Nascent Souls (Fengxi, Drake and Tortoise), killing 2 in the process.
Although Han Li tries to avoid getting caught up in trouble, he is willing to go out of his way to help Wen Siyue who is like a little sis, when Yuan Yao opened her heart to him, he returned her with his own and revealing his kind nature, protected her with all his might against a formidable opponent in Wen Tianren, later protected Mei Ning and Ziling, acted gentlemanly towards them throughout the journey went out of his way to help them settle in unfamiliar place. Even did his best to encourage Mei Ning who was lost.
So everything becomes clear, Silvermoon’s cutesy behavior at first were just an act to try and lower Han Li – to turn on Han Li’s softy side. Then Silvermoon tells Han Li, she lost some memories and previous episode, after she took over the Fox’s body, she tripped. This is to tell Han Li she is weakened and of no threat to him. (What she didn’t tell Han Li is her memory loss was not the result of the take over, it happened longed before she became trapped in Void Palace, before she became the Ruyi Scepter’s Spirit!)
Telling Han Li she is a Silvermoon Wolf when it is obvious that Han Li will never hear or read about this Wolf species because it is from the Spirit Realm. Her objective is to make Han Li think twice about killing her. Unknown is scary! Furthermore killing her may get him into trouble with unknown! oooOOOoooo unknown! oooOOOooo scary!
A side note: That was in the novel but not mentioned too much in the Donghua. The Fox is a 4-Pupils Spirit Fox, a very powerful type of Spirit Fox as evident from prev episode. Silvermoon Wolves and 4-pupils Spirit Foxes have blood connections and the Silvermoon Wolves hard counters the Foxes. Plus this Fox in fact, only had a fraction of the Corpse Spirit’s Soul in it. (The rest of its soul are in the Box it claimed to contain the ‘letter’ for its lover which it became creepy and wanted Han Li to tear the talisman off in prev ep)
Silvermoon did everything with 1 objective in mind: Convince Han Li not to kill her.
But she miscalculated one thing. Han Li’s perfect combination of caution + gutsy makes him approach everything with worst case scenario in mind. He is an orthodox Cultivator, and these people cultivates themselves, they know themselves very well. He factored in Silvermoon knows him very well and may use his own personal flaws and preferences against him.
So to Han Li, all of Silvermoon’s actions in the 1st few minutes were akin to “This disingenuous Evil Tool Spirit has been observing me and knows all my secrets and is trying to use its knowledge of me to make me lower my guard!”
Previously, whenever Silvermoon take a step towards Han Li, he took a step back. Then now he seemingly approaches her casually while lowering his guard. I guess being a Wolf, Silvermoon might’ve sensed Han Li become increasingly more murderous or something while moving closer to her.
Just kidding, Han Li may have lowered the scepter, he was still holding it, plus Han Li approached Silvermoon with the Swords up and pointing at her and having the Evil Annihilation Lightning on the swords.
There are 2 important things here. Whether Silvermoon is really the Scepter’s Spirit and if she knows about his Little Green Bottle.
Han Li and Silvermoon are testing each other because for Han Li, this is a situation he has never encountered before while Silvermoon can tell how OP the Bottle is and its importance to Han Li and she can tell that she’s the only other person who knows about the secret of his Little Green Friend.
Han Li asked her about her ability to move with the Scepter and why she choose to follow him when there’s so many others in the Void Palace, many far stronger than himbecause normally, when a Spirit gets turned into a Tool’s spirit they lose their identity and cannot move on their own.
He wants to know if Silvermoon can sneak away from him and also to confirm if she is really the scepter’s spirit.
Silvermoon understands this perfectly and starts by assuring Han Li that she can’t control the Scepter freely and she described in details what happened in the Void Palace, the number of Nascent Souls, Core Stages and everyone’s appearance to tell Han Li that she is the tool spirit.
This is when Han Li truly lowered his guard. He knows he just need to hold onto the Ruyi Scepter and move onto the final step: The Little Green Bottle.
Silvermoon relaxed and openly admits she knows about it. Why I say she relaxed when Han Li put a sword on her neck? She smiled. Because this is a sign that Han Li won’t kill her or else he would’ve just beheaded right there.
Someone beside me thought that Silvermoon was threatening Han Li when she talked about what happened if the ‘Big Shots’ learns about the existence of his Little Green Bottle. Actually, that’s Silvermoon hinting Han Li that they are on the same boat and she has proven herself to be a worthy asset ~ she’s strong. From their dialogue, she showed to Han Li that she has the wits and guts to his partner in crime.
Also this is the first time, they hint there’s other Realms in the Donghua through Silvermoon. Fitting because spoilers: She’s from the Spirit Realm (since I see people spoiled this already…)
With this, Silvermoon managed to earned her life despite knowing Han Li’s secret. In real life, to promote yourself and bargain for your life in similar situation where you know the deepest secrets of someone who can kill you without repurcussions, will be exponentially more difficult, but I say the Donghua portrayed it pretty well already considering they only have 8 minutes to do something that can take up to hours and more likely still end in failure (DIE!)
This also marks a new beginning in Han Li’s long Cultivation life. Back when he had Qu Hun, It was just a fraction of his Soul controlling a corpse. Now, Silvermoon is a separate entity who knows his secret. He finally has a companion in this long, tedious path.
2nd Half, they maintained Drifting Cloud Sect’s atmosphere by having the disciples waiting for Han Li and when Sun offered Han Li half of the reward, no one objected.
As for Silvermoon’s fragmented memories that Han Li saw when he picked up the Sword after the Spirit Transferring Ritual was finished.
We see a vague image of an immensely powerful and fierce looking wolf-like man, then Silvermoon in tears, then she was torn into pieces and we see a red woman and a white one. All these are spoilers. But let’s say Silvermoon was in a high position in the Spirit Realm but she married a wrong dude, not only she was unhappy, she ended up getting her soul ripped apart and fell to the Mortal Realm.
