Yeah, even I’m praying that nothing happens again from him stopping into getting to Nascent Soul bro, like damn. We need that insane upgrade so people can’t bully him so easily now. And Mei Ning is only at the Foundation Building. Oh yeah, I remember this is the part where she asks Han Li to be her dao companion but he declines. 😅😅😅 Even when Wang Ning suggested Han Li to be that person our boi still refused, he isn’t that kind of person after all. At the end of the day, Han Li isn’t focused on that right now and more on his cultivation. But he was open to the idea apparently, but only after he reaches Nascent he will do it. I guess they changed some parts here cause I didn’t see it, she was just sitting there quietly, while Han Li was the one doing all the talking lmao.
Damn, at least our boi is indeed aware that all the enemies he made are all powerful individuals. It’s still crazy how much he survived through all of that. I know it’s because he has plot armor but our boi was a cautious person since the very beginning and he has his ways to dodge a fight if it happens. And when it gets to the point of no return he will fight his way out like he always does, when getting cornered.
He is stating a lot of facts here, even when he tries to reach Nascent, in their world it could even take a century or more than that who knows really?? I don’t even think she can wait that long for him. And I remember cultivators aren’t entirely immortal they still have limits in years so they could still die if they didn’t make a breakthrough in their cultivation to a higher level.
So we are having some sort of reminiscing episode about some of our boi’s past, sheesh!!! I guess we are that far away into the story now that they could do something like that. They set it up well with Han Li’s homeland and everything. Ngl, but I love seeing these 2 finally having a moment together since she is after all a future spouse to Han Li. 😩😩😩👌👌👌 Ayeee!!! During that fireworks scene, I wasn’t the only one who saw that right??? She tried closing in on our boi, was she about to kiss him??? 🥺🥺🥺 Han Li is so used to freedom that he doesn’t wanna burden anyone, that’s why he doesn’t want people to be that much involved with him.
What a wholesome breather episode this one was fam. Almost made me cry since it’s going to be a while before they see each other again. 🥲🥲🥲 And the way she took her veil off in front of Han Li and called him Devil Han. I forgot that’s like one of his aliases. 😅😅😅 Also, to think about breaking through to Nascent he has to do all of that. They indeed have a complicated cultivation system. I guess that’s why over here it’s much more slower and realistic than in some other Donghua’s. The MC is breaking through 2 to 3 levels in an instant while here taking 1 takes time, sheesh!!! I know that’s how it should be for some but it’s just going to take time again and slow at the same time. I know some people out there can’t wait when it comes to that lol.
So at the end of the day, he still has to join a sect just to break through?? Hmm, I guess since he needs a safe place to cultivate and the spiritual energy needed for it, while he is in a seclusion state. And away from prying eyes once he made his breakthrough.

This animation is really good, with just the right balance of story and action. A protagonist who doesn’t get powers out of nowhere and knows when to fight or stay quiet. I’m hoping for many episodes.

This episode is so peacefull. The production team created a good image for the Falling Cloud Sect, because Han Li contributed quite a bit in this place compared to his previous sect. But he will still be left it behind again for the sake of his sky-high goals.

yep, as a fan of the og story of shrouding the heavens, i agree that donghua did a terrible job in depicting the story. they should just restart the whole series. everything was so bad. plot wise, lots of holes. only good point is animations.
I say, if he was going to join a cult, wouldn’t it have been better if he took the two girls with him? They would be safer in a cult and would have a better chance of growing better.

No because the 3 Core Stages who appeared in the previous episodes are from the 3 Sects (Core Stages already has administrative control and say in the running of the 3 Sects) PS: He isn’t joining a Cult. It’s Sects which is more like an armed Company who also has a School that majority of their employees graduated from.
The Core Stages already knows and suspect Ziling and Mei Ning to be spies. The only reason why the bald guy left the girls alone and not try to capture them to bring back to be interrogated is because Han Li spooked them with his immense Divine Consciousness (8th Sense)
If all 3 of them appeared at any of the 3 Sects’ doorsteps, they’ll get mobbed within seconds. Not even Han Li can take on a dozen Cor- eh… maybe he can… I mean not even Han Li can take on multiple Nascent Souls in the Luoyun Sect plus the 3 Sects Luoyun, Baiqiao and Old Sword are allies, they’ll end up making enemies with the 3 Sects.
Han Li joining 1 of the Sects while concealing his true strength like an enemy spy when he’s not and the 2 girls settle down and laying low is the best course of action in their current situation. Everything was considered.

This story has lessons for real life. Women find a man most attractive who is not distracted by relationships and does not pursue them. Han abstains from relationships, defined his goals and works hard toward his dream without distractions. We see the power this has over the women in orbit around Han. In this story arc, we have also seen various motivations to be with Han. Yuan Yao who gave him the monkey is completely submissive to Han and would do anything for him. This motivates Han to do everything he can to protect her which is very unusual for him.
Wang Ning worships Han with a deep love persisting even through death. She herself is independent and the head of a sect, immensely talented, industrious and famed for beauty. For years after he had saved her life, she did not know what happened to Han whether alive or dead but still held out hope. She certainly had her pick of established men but has held out indefinitely for Han and only Han. She has maximized the platonic time they spent together by working with him for revenge on Absolute Darkness island and her also making Han the elder of her sect. She also supported his desire to grow and contributed the Lightning Bamboo which saved his life repeatedly. When trapped in the netherworld with Han and Mei Ning, Zi Ling coyly evaluates her competition by asking Han how he got the monkey from Yuan Yao, implying he used some “skill”. Saying the monkey was given in fair trade put her mind at ease.
Even though Han must leave, she implicitly leaves the door open to continue their friendship.
Mei Ning on the other hand wants Han because she wants a protector due to feeling insecure. I notice she mentions her brothers death as a setback for her cultivation, again focused on herself. This is all about her own needs and wants. She never mentions what she can do for Han as his partner. Han understands this and frames his rejection of her in such a way that she rejects Han because his nascent soul may not align with her timetable. Mei Ning appears to be a naïve and sweet girl, but she is far away from understanding how to give to someone else instead of your own needs.
Han has other reasons for avoiding a relationship right now. He’s seen what happens when cultivators settle down who are not strong enough to protect those around them. Wang Ning‘s parents died but at least had gifted her a power to escape threats. Also, one of the cultivators who helped Han raid the cave of Xuan Gu was the daughter of another cultivator. Her death I think was a lesson for Han who will not attempt to settle down until he has the power to protect everyone he loves.
Episodes like this are the reason I love this donghua so much. It’s not the big fight scenes or the breakthroughs—those are fun, like the icing on the cake—but they’re not what really keeps me watching. What I really connect with are the quieter moments, when the characters slow down and reflect. Those scenes, full of emotion and a bit of sadness, feel so real and meaningful. That’s what stays with me.

In the novel there is a running subplot that ZiLing is literally so pretty that she can not work around with her real face. If this is suppose to be the reveal of that face I will be disappointed. Try harder studio!

Hey guys, I know its a bit late, but its time to suffer my essay again!
We can see a massive difference between Ziling and Mei Ning.
The moment Mei Ning sees Han Li, she becomes excited and wanted to get close to him. Her tendencies to be reliant on others has been reflected as early as episode 139 while Han Li was fighting Wen Tianren.
But now, it is strongly reflected because she’s now in an unfamiliar place, her real brother had died, she is indeed pitiful and deserves sympathy. Then there’s a new Big, Strong, Kind and Gentle big brother in Han Li. Naturally, she’ll develop reliance on Han Li, after all, he’s been protecting her and you know Han Li, he says no taking advantage, he’s very thorough. The sexual relation they had in the Umbra Realm was out of necessity.
Ziling on the other hand is on a whole new level. She show far more composure, didn’t even asked about what happened with the 3 Core Formations earlier. Instead, asked what is Han Li’s plans for the future. She shows maturity, the strength of a Core Stage and already revealed that she’s not going to be a detriment even if he takes her along with him. (You can even see Ziling able to kill some Umbra Beasts without Cultivator powers meaning she has good natural fighting instincts)
Han Li replying he plans on trying to go for Nascent Soul but he will do what he can to help them settle down (and what he says later) means he acknowledged Ziling and trusts her enough to share his plans. With this, Han Li is also saying, he’s going behind closed doors for a long time and will not be able to help them any further.
Immediately, you can see Mei Ning’s expression becomes disappointed and worried, Ziling showed sadness but only for a brief moment. Han Li pretends not to see because he understands their situation.
And said the exact same wishes Han Li said to her in Episode 71
“I wish Miss Wang can accomplish what she sought to do (avenged her parents)”
She said “She wish Han Li can accomplished what he wants and ascend to Nascent Soul”
In hopes that like before, they can meet again and have a new beginning. +points for Ziling again
Then Ziling said she’s going to go behind doors to cultivate, this is telling Han Li “Don’t worry about me, I’ll work hard too!”
But Mei Ning on the other hand… when Ziling heard Mei Ning mentioned her late brother, she realized Mei Ning wanted Han Li to take her in.
You can see she turned to look at Han Li, sees Han Li turned away in deep thoughts, immediately realized Han Li don’t wished to do so. Furthermore, Ziling knows how bad becoming other people’s accessory, Ziling’s Melodious Sect is literally in shambles becoming vassal to Yun Tianxiao (the guy Han Li saved Wen Siyue from), where Wen Tianren and Yun were one sided taking from Ziling and Melodious Sect and not giving anything in return and they are not even allowed to say no. The Sect Members was practically forced into becoming Strippers and Prostitutes while Ziling became no more than a ‘beast’ to be conquered by Wen Tianren eventually or be forced upon if Wen lose his patience with her (Which he was actually) even though Wen was the one who had a favor to ask.
Since Mei Ning didn’t specify Han Li, Ziling feign ignorance and diverted the attention to ‘other people’ that we don’t know about. Ziling sincerely wish Mei Ning would pick herself back up and not rely on anyone. Not Han Li, not other people and especially not Wen Tianren.

They used the Copper Mirror to show reflection of Mei Ning surrounded by darkness to show how future looks to her.
Recently, Han Li had leave Spectator seat and put the nail in coffin and tell Mei Ning he has too many enemies and they are too strong. Taking her along would turn her into his weakness, it will be detrimental to both of them, fatal even! Han Li asking Mei Ning if she is willing to wait for him (decades even hundreds of years) is not him giving her a chance, well, it is partially but also because Han Li knows that her feelings for him is not that strong, she is just reliant because of being in an unfamiliar country.
When Han Li gives the Secular Suppression Pills to greatly increase Mei Ning’s chance to reach Core Stage, the Bottle is from Han Li, but it was Ziling who hands it Mei Ning. Again Han Li wants to distance himself from Mei Ning because he is the object of reliance, but having Ziling give it to her means both Han Li and Ziling will not abandon her. They are both good-hearted in nature, though Han Li can sometimes be really douche.
When Han Li gave Ziling her Sect Tokens left behind by Madam Fan, she was hoping he would comfort her as a close friend and not the Sect’s Guest Elder.
We can also see 1 of Han Li’s shoulders was raised indicating he almost did. But out of consideration: As a friend, he wish she can walk out of this on her own.
But Han Li tried to help her by mentioning her Previous Life Mo Caihuan’s life and how Mo Caihuan was able to walk out of her sorrow and even contributed to the fall of some Cultivators.
Ziling pretends to walk out of her sorrow and jokingly asked about Mo Caihuan, but when Han Li turned around, she started sobbing quietly ~ She’s simply too considerate.
Ziling said both she and Mei Ning will stay in this place. Ziling is telling Han Li not to worry about them and she’ll take care of Mei Ning, also telling him where he can find them. Ziling wish to travel the world with him. When Ziling talked to him about the ‘Videos’ Pearl, she was confessing her love for him because what the Pearl contained was a love story and judging from Han Li’s dodgy eyes, he probably watched it before and knows Ziling’s feelings that’s why he has been calling her Ziling Sect Master throughout this episode to build a wall/distance himself for the same reason he said already: Too many strong enemies, really not the time to think about MF relationship.
He didn’t outright reject Ziling. This is the most decisive factor and difference with Mei Ning.
Then we see the two lotuses on the pond eventually coming together is foreshadowing. They are floating side by side, meaning Han Li and Ziling are walking on the same line, they will eventually meet again.
Finally we see Ziling removing her veil. Previously she said she’ll not remove the veil until she finish her revenge. This is Ziling telling Han Li, she is no longer shackled by revenge, there’s someone (Han Li) as important as her parents in her life now, like ‘Caihuan’ her life has more than just revenge and she will move forward. This is why Han Li finally called her Miss Wang again and make her heart flutters again but unlike Mei Ning, Ziling can restrain herself, she truly hope Han Li can advance to Nascent Soul and she will work towards the same goal for that future where they meet again, they can finally stand side by side! After all, they were 1 Major Realm apart (Qi Refiner and Peak Foundation, now they are in the same Realm. It isn’t an impossibility! They further added subtle hints that Ziling is Mo Caihuan’s reincarnation, they couldn’t be together, but this time, its a new beginning and they can be together.
This Episode subtly show Han Li and Ziling’s feelings, I say its well-done. Han Li knows Mei Ning is not affection, its reliance. He also knows Ziling affections for him and he has feelings for her. Dudes find it harder to express their emotions but the dodgy, the guilt, the subconscious desire to comfort his baby when she’s sad and the suppression of the feelings all because in this toxic Cultivator world, unless Han Li becomes Nascent Soul and can protect his loved ones, exposed love will only become shackles and weakness for others to exploit. Han Li has no choice but become the douche who leaves two girls heart-broken.

We see new Female character Mu Pengling and Sun Huo doing charity work to show that Luoyun Sect is different from Yellow Maple Valley.
Also we see the result of Luoyun Sect having a much lower recruitment requirements, there’s a lot more mortals and only a few Cultivators, not like Yellow Maple Valley that is more elitist and every new disciples were cultivators from the start.

Using the Elder encouraging Han Li not to let being False Spirit Roots get you down again show us that Luoyun Sect is really good to everyone and assigns Han Li under Mu Pengling who put him in-charge of Spirit Herbs Garden. With this, Han Li take his first steps to prepare for Nascent Soul. At this rate they are going, earliest probably August before Han Li nascent soul
