heavenly dao alliance if i remember, only have two mid-stage nascent soul expert as their heads: long han and feng bing. They’re a couple and their combined power can fight off late stage nascent soul if I’m not wrong. i dunno if u realize later but han li ask silvermoon again to redo his death scene to become seriously injured scene and she complained. i mean, the complaint was legit.

Now to refresher about the Tiannan’s current situation
Heavenly’s Dao (Go with Flow) Alliance is made out of Old Swords, 100s Tricks and Drifting Clouds Sect, not only they possess substantial fighting strength, they joint owns the ancient Spirit ‘Eye’ Tree. The ‘Spiritual Eyes’ forms when spiritual energies becomes extremely concentrated, they are immense Qi/Ki, hence living particles, when lots of them gather, there’ll bound be some who decides to try something.
This result in formation of Spirit ‘Eye’ Stones, Spirit ‘Eye’ Pearls, the Spirit ‘Eye’ Pool in Void Palace which Yuan Yao bathed in and the Spirit ‘Eye’ Tree owned by the 3 Sects is highest level. It can raise Cultivation speed by about 30%.
Its effects is better than the Spirit Veins in Mines and unlike Spirit Veins which must stay rooted to where it was born: People can move the Spirit Tree without it losing the cultivation benefits.
This is why many people are eyeing the Three Sects who formed Heavenly Dao Alliance.
Also why the Righteous Alliance & Demonic Forces wants the Heavenly Dao Alliance to join them.
As we know, if you have 2 Factions who wants you to join them, but you refused to join either and play Neutral, both sides will join forces to mess with you. So for the past 100+ years, both factions had sent many disciples into the Three Sects.
The Late Core Stage Elder Bai (Swords guy), Du Dong (revealed in this episode to be Late Core Stage) and based on next episode preview
In fact, the only one who has the least number of spies is Drifting Clouds because of the existence of the prodigy Song Yu, even Du Dong was discovered almost immediately, and when Song Yu told Senior Wei along the lines of “Elder Chen misses him” Senior Wei’s expression changed indicating that Wei is actually someone a caring person.
Judging from Wei is cuffed, this means the higher ups of the Drifting Clouds longed suspected him. But they didn’t kill him immediately, instead imprisoned him and under the mask of ‘never leaving until he reaches Nascent Soul’ and still left him with a great deal of dignity that even a higher up like Song Yu doesn’t know. And in spite of his identity, there’s still someone (Elder Chen) in the Drifting Clouds who cares greatly about him.
This is laying the foundation/rationale for Wei refusing to cooperate with the traitors in stealing the Tree’s roots and destroying the Tree, thus destroying the 3 Sects’ source of power.
They really put in a lot of efforts in minor details for the Three Sects. I think its mainly because Han Li is going to stay in Drifting Clouds for considerable amount of time. Go watch the episode again if you didn’t notice
Old Swords disciples are taking care of their swords to reflect Sword Cultivators put their sword in number 1 place.
100 Tricks disciples; most of them originates from rich and powerful families, otherwise mere Foundation Stage wouldn’t have been able to afford to craft those big boxes you see a lot of them are carrying, those are like tactical weapons. Sword Cultivators’ spirit swords are like a very expensive high caliber gun. While these guys magic tools are akin to Tanks or even fighter jets such as F35.
From the novel, the 100 Tricks Sect functions a lot like the Yue Kingdom’s 7 Sects (Hidden Moons, Beast Tamers, Yellow Maples etc…) Primarily accepting disciples from Major Cultivator Families and the Sect is pretty much ruled by the 5 Strongest Houses, they rarely accept people who are not from the families or those related to the 5 Families and occupies the western part of the Dream Clouds Mountains. As most of their disciples are rich kids who never went through any hardship… this is reflected in how they sit. Most of them are fidgetting as they wait, some simply stretches their legs out.
While Drifting Clouds majority are freelance Cultivators who has no background or wealth are ascetics who endured hardships all their lives to get to where they are today. So you see everyone including Song Yu is seated properly, most are even using this opportunity to cultivate. Everything they have is hard-earned and are treasured.
Later when Du Dong turned against them, you can see members of the other Sects immediately went Every Man/Women for him/herself, seriously the gender wars is getting so troublesome… while Drifting Clouds disciples group together and combine their shields to protect everyone.
The irony here is Old Swords and 100 Tricks promotes Collectivist culture and tries to erase everyone’s identity, everyone must think and act for Sect’s benefits (Leader’s) at all times. While Drifting Clouds promotes Individualistic culture that has strong familial and friendship bonds (Bold is the most important, without bold, individualism culture will result in the same thing). Old Swords & 100 Tricks failed to truly unite their Disciples. Drifting Clouds that gives more freedom, cares about their disciples, don’t discriminate against weaker, less bright individuals as long as they are not lazy bums & disingenuous assholes. Welp, most disciples of Drifting Clouds are freelancers without background, so its easier for them to form attachments with fellow disciples who also knows hardships and with the Sect who treats them very well.
When Du Dong reveals his true face. He holds a peacock fan and has butterfly embroidery on his robes to show flamboyance and the patterns hanging from his shoulder pads/thingies is paying homage to a type of ancient Chinese’s Face Changing Performance to reflect Du Dong’s Sect: Myriad Illusions Sect and its Skill: Zenith Myriad Transformation Skill. (They haven’t learned how to crawl, they want to Interdimensional and Multiversal Travels)

Once Du Dong reveals his identity, ‘Han Li’ immediately prepares to escape. Du Dong straight up kills Han Li because Han Li is a threat. He even went to check to make sure Han Li is dead.
Interesting detail which I noticed watching 2nd time. Senior Wei’s hand trembled while holding the Token. It’s because Wei knows what is coming next (Nascent Soul taking control of his body) This is nothing new. We’ve seen Jiyin done this with Wu Chou.
You look at Bai, he is still holding sword like a Sword Cultivator and the way he sighs and say “No matter how they truly feel about the Sect, Fake is fake” indicates he do have some feelings for the Sect. In the Novel, Bai also has a Dao Companion whom he couldn’t faced in shame. I guess Wei isn’t the only one who has developed feelings for the Sect they were sent to spy in.
Huo Long, the bald child-like Nascent Soul immobilized Wei. Bai, Du Dong and Wei, all 3 are at Late Core Stage and they couldn’t react at all. Again reflecting the gap between Nascent Soul and Core. Earlier, Han Li messed up the Nascent Souls too badly, they come to remind us Nascent Soul and Core difference is even greater.
A copy of Tiansha/Sky Evil, a Nascent Soul from Demonic Faction possesses Wei, he knows as a copy with only a fraction of his power, he is no match for Huo Long, this is why after Tiansha helped the spies deflected Tianhuo’s fireball, his attacks went for everyone not just Huo Long alone, to force him to protect the disciples, he shattered green hands easily with a wave of energy, but the impact caused everyone, including the other Core Stages to get knocked down except for Song Yu, who did not get knocked down and can start pursuing the 2 Late Core Stages, once again hinting she’s very strong.
To keep delaying Huo Long, Tiansha take advantage of Wei’s perk of able to use parts of the Spirit Trees’ roots to buff his attacks to close the gap in power between him who can only use a fraction of his power and Huo Long who can use 100%.
But when Tiansha’s magic hands without the Tree Roots managed to catch Huo Long and Sword Nascent Soul couldn’t break out immediately, here’s where we discover that Tiansha was holding back earlier, he deliberately allowed Huo Long to shatter his Magic Hands easily to give Huo Long the wrong impression that he needs the Roots to threaten Huo Long.
Tiansha knows he is weaker than Huo Long while possessing Wei. But he is legitimately ready to injure or kill Huo Long if he gets a chance because Huo Long cannot fight at full power either because the Spirit Tree’s Roots is there and Huo Long needs to support the Core Stages outside. So in reality, Huo Long’s advantage over Tiansha isn’t that great. If anything, they are 60/40 and with the deception, Tiansha managed to close the gap to 55/45.
While everything is going on, with all that impacts that knocked all the other Core Stages down and even Song Yu can be seen having a Bell-like Magic Tool casting forcefield over herself, Silvermoon continues disguised as Han Li and playing dead and Han Li is hiding in a corner and maintaining his own concealment spell.
Towards the end of the episode, Han Li and Silvermoon started taking action. You can see Han Li mimicking Wei’s spell to attempt to manipulate the Tree Roots, but noticed something’s up and decided to enter the interior to check things out.
Han Li and the Righteous-Demonic Spies both wanted the Roots of the Tree. Difference is Han Li don’t want to destroy the Tree. 2 out of 3 of the spies wants to destroy it.
As they’ve mentioned in this Episode, the Righteous-Demonic Factions went so far to mobilize all their spies to obtain the Spirit ‘Eye’ Extract is because they’ve found a withered Mystic Heavens Immortal Vine with OP properties.
Although withered, the Immortal Vine can be revived with the Spirit Extracts of the Tree. How OP is the Immortal Vine. Once revived, the Immortal Vine itself, any Immortal Flowers or Fruits it may bears will have special power/s that can ignore the Laws of the current Universe they are in.
To the Righteous and Demonic Factions, the Immortal Vine is worth abandoning the plans they’ve made sending so many spies to the Old Swords, 100 Tricks and Drifting Clouds for 100+ years. Original plans is probably send spies to get into power, subvert and gain control of the Sects eventually.

Both Righteous & Demonic wants Heavenly Dao on their side. They focus a lot on the 3 Sects because these 3 are not just powerful, they also own the Spirit ‘Eye’ Tree that can keep on producing the Spirit Extract which Han Li has used to great effect, it is crucial in surviving the 3 Nascent Soul Monsters Fengxi, Fire Drake & Tortoise, defeating Wen Tianren.
Hence both sides sent a lot of spies to the 3 Sects. There are some details I won’t talk about until I see the next episode pv in Youtube.
