It’s that time of the week again! Essay suffering time!!
First, we have Tianji (Martial Arts guy) trying to help Mei Ning. But we can see the mix of affection he has for Mei Ning and the frustration he has with Cultivators.
Mei Ning refusing to trust him despite him dropping warnings like mad earlier to tell them to run away, now in his point of view, Mei Ning is now all alone in the room = Han Li realized they are in danger and ditched Mei Ning to save his own skin.
It is obvious that Han Li and Mei Ning are being watched closely by the village. So if Han Li runs away, the village (Elder) will surely know and Mei Ning would be in far greater peril because now, she’ll most likely be killed immediately! This is why the guy locked the door when he got in to make it so that people have to either break the door or go through the window -> give himself and Mei Ning warnings. We can’t blame Mei Ning for being afraid either, it is obvious that she noticed how Tianji looked at her on 2 occasions. She already suffering from insecurities of suddenly becoming helpless in a dangerous place, now a guy she noticed looked at her ‘like a pervert’ suddenly shows up in the house and locked the door.
So its really nobody’s fault here. Tianji’s expression when he saw Mei Ning took out the hairpin (as weapon). I almost feel bad for Tianji. Still, can’t blame Mei Ning either.
Still, in Tianji’s POV, Mei Ning still refused to believe him and ‘foolishly believe and wait for Han Li’ his frustration is real.
This is the reason for Tianji’s outburst. He’s a legitimate good guy, I think most of you figured out already, but those who haven’t, please don’t think ill of him. He’s really not the bad guy here.
As for why Tianji wanted to fight Han Li.
Han Li showed up without Tianji noticing and Han Li broke the locked door with brute force. (You can see the locked door bursting open). This means Han Li is not just a Cultivator, he’s also a skilled martial artist and also Han Li showing up means the MC didn’t abandoned Mei Ning.
Tianji is a mortal, a highly skilled martial artist on top of it. He is unhappy with Cultivators (High Level Cultivators treat lower level ones like shit, low level ones treats mortals like shit)
You can see from the village’s situation, the Village Hall meeting (Ppl in power), only Tianji is mortal, the rest are Cultivators. Even without their powers, the Cultivators are still acting high and mighty.

Han Li is not just more skillful than Tianji (he has far more combat experience), Han Li is a Cultivator. Here’s a summary of the difference between mortal martial artists and Cultivators who cannot use their powers using mortal Martial Arts.
Despite them unable to use Magic and use magic tools, Cultivator’s Qi is empowered by Elements and also Cultivators senses + spatial awareness is still higher than mortals. Also breaking through Immortal Cultivation Realms and Levels may not increase the person’s physical abilities directly (You still need to do additional training to raise your physical abilities), but they will increase all of one’s latent potential. So a Cultivator training can get strong very quickly. Just take Han Li’s former External Incarnation Qu Hun for example, he didn’t do body Cultivation or martial arts training, he just practice a more physical inclined Cultivation skill and Qu Hun can easily handle 50,000 kg (50 tons) ‘giant screw’
Han Li actually took it easy on Tianji because he knows Tianji has been dropping warnings to them like mad (he said so in this episode). So Han Li don’t see him as an enemy.
You can also see how hopeless it actually is for Mortals to face Cultivators. Han Li basically ran a full circle around Tianji before the poor dude can turn 1 circle (and land 2 hits in a row). This is a Cultivator who knows how to fight W/O his powers (Like 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% true powers).
Despite getting his ass whooped, Tianji still gave Han Li a Beast Crystal, keep in mind that Beast Crystals are rare to come by. their annual yield is like a dozen +/-
Again showing Tianji is a really good guy.
Mei Ning’s (通玉凤髓之身… ugh another translation hell), Eh…. Ancient Jade Phoenix Marrow Body is not some super rare to find constitution, but it is highly prized because women who has this constitution (there’s a male version) will generate a special strand of Spiritual Chi in their bodies ONCE THEY REACH FOUNDATION STAGE. It has no use for the girl, but a guy who obtains this Chi can have their Cultivation level increased greatly. Though its effects will be discounted on higher level Cultivators. It is still very good despite of this. Also if she lose virginity before obtaining the Spiritual Chi, her body will not generate this Chi either (The same goes for dudes version)
And the girl must be willing to give to the guy, trying to take by force will never work.

Before the Chief Elder murder the other Elder Luo, he said along the lines of “Better us Cultivators than let the poor mortals fight the Umbra Beasts”
Yeah, we totally didn’t see 99% of the people fighting the Umbra beasts in the previous episodes to be mortals. We totally didn’t see 100% of the casualties are mortals and the Cultivators totally risked their lives by sitting far behind the safety of the village’s walls and activating the Formation to nuke the Umbra Beasts and the Beast Crystals distribution are totally fair, the Cultivators clearly have 99~100% of the Crystals and Mortals have 0% ~ 1% for their easy job of doing all the dirty work of scavenging supplies and fighting the Beasts in the frontlines.
I’m sure the Chief Elder and his Cultivator cronies won’t abandoned the village and attempt to climb the Storm Mountain when he saved enough Crystals.
Not really a surprise when Elder Luo revealed they were the ones who backstabbed the Nascent Soul Elder years ago and best of all, Han Li heard everything. It’s already established that Han Li is so highly skilled that without their powers, people can’t detect him (Cultivators or Mortals alike).
Han Li and Chief Elder’s faceoff is easy to read.
Chief Elder says he controls the entire Village. Defying him is equals to facing the whole village.
Han Li says its best to let him and Mei Ning go = I can solo the whole village because Han Li knows the Elder is bluffing, not everyone is siding with the Elder. The strongest Tianji is definitely not with him
I wont lie its so refreshing seeing some nice hand to hand combat.
