why? we’re supposed to meet an miaoyi at freakin’ western desert and this is northern, no buddhism there. it’s absurd for the donghua to design a buddhist temple in the middle of nowhere in northern region.
the flashback? it’s absolutely illegal, another forceful insertion. look, isn’t ye fan wearing his current clothes in the flashback? the content is valid though. in novel, this conversation happened during the exciting night between the two after ye fan was somehow having this dao injury or just healed it (i need to re-check the exact details myself). in any case, the conversation definitely didn’t happen in donghua.
for what does it mean anw? it means she’s close to dao-severing (immortal platform third heaven or supreme king level). what she wants to sever is definitely her past and so on. that’s why she said, “if one day i forget you, you must remember me.” u know some buddhism shyt is kinda absurd for me to explain. this is also why ye fan is “stuck” at second heaven of immortal platform, he doesn’t know yet what he wanted to sever. he definitely didn’t want to sever his past, his friends, his family and so on..
imo, u better read the novel urself. honestly at this point the storytelling is really bad that watching this is only for the sake of action and adrenaline and aura farming. lol~

like another flashback when ye fan was supposedly fought against dao palace deities of people who wanted to steal his phoenix blood crystal. it also didn’t happen in prev donghua episodes and they still insisted it’s a freakin’ flashback. the most awesome flashback is that meeting wei wei. damn that hottie from yaoguang holy land. she’s the one who first met ye fan in the novel when they first come out of forbidden region! and she kinda went away fast since she was sent into holy land as a part of talent programme. and when she was introduced there was that flashback of empty sky or flying immortal palace picture when nearing the exit of forbidden land. no flashback of her introduction at all.
and i’m not talking abt novel guys. just talking abt donghua itself. if the donghua is self-consistent then i’m fine with it. though i might be somewhat unsatisfied for the botched plot and botched world building, it’s their choice.. and this is why i felt so unhappy watching this. it never even happened in previous donghua episodes but they insert that flashback anyway.

anw ur right i sorta mix them up. but i usually wouldn’t accept gemini tho as resources for this. she actually appear in northern plains at this point in time. i didn’t bother to recheck since i just remember the later part of this struggle. i felt like her life is kinda absurd tbh. she cut her past self and then met ye fan like at least few more times before she “went” to the underworld and die permanently. the only interesting part is that she seemed to “reincarnate” into one of ye fan’s disciples. so like soul is the same but consciousness is different. that’s why reincarnation is no longer the original you. like i think that’s also the main theme of the story.
