yes mc is at 2nd heaven of immortal platform at 8th heavenly layer. his combat power is at most around ordinary 7th heavenly layer of 3rd heaven immortal platform. ofc he’s sacred body and his close combat is more monstrous but in the world of magic power, you can’t always bet on strong physical body.
the reason mc is no match for those old monsters at 3rd heaven is that each of them is also a genius and possibly they have stepped into half-saint level. at least they’re peak level of 9th heavenly layer. but imo, those old monsters have stepped half a step into saint level, the fourth heaven of immortal platform. anw it’s similar to shi hao stepping into heavenly god level from true god level. there is a natural moat of level that can’t be crossed by having 8-layer restriction (combat power crossing 8 minor levels).
