I actually have the proper explanation for you here, but basics are mentioned in the donghua. Long X was basically fulfilling a promise/request from the MC’s teacher (Mu Huen). The dragon core/pill needs the MC to be at his weakest state without blood also for it to be successful. That way the MC will also have new blood of the dragons. The dragon core will also help him create a second soul core when the time comes
He also agreed to the request partly cz he needs the MC’s help to stop the Holy Palace doings and his villain girlfriend who he admits that he can’t stop her, only the MC can

Tang Wutong entered seclusion to process the memories now streaming back to her after the Sea God Trident seal mark that was blocking memories broke during the last episode. It was placed by her father as a test to the MC to see if he’s capable of loving and protecting her daughter well while in the mortal realm. The stabbing is also part of the MC’s test to become the God of Emotions. Interesting though how the God test begun without the MC’s knowledge, maybe it’s because of not wanting to alert Di Tian.
