u should get the point that qin mu here is able to cross 2 major realms against ordinary opponents.. remember that he killed that seven stars realm opponent when he just entered five elements realm using poison. and he can hold out very long. point is, now he has that saturn transformation, etc. he’s able to fight head on against such low level seven stars realm. ofc the degree of realm perfection is also important. i think they discuss this with imperial preceptor during the trip before qin mu summoned devil god dutian..

Usually in other donghua’s cultivation is simply about refining yourself through certain pathways, usually with somewhat pre established lore that you’re following and you learn it either through a sect or your own journey
Then beyond donghuas, there’s the idea that gods are embodiment of highly revered/practiced figures/things by the common people
Meanwhile this episode implies a mix of both where apparently what the people worship affects the gods’ realms too?
Including the ability to somehow just dedicate yourself to a specific craft and reach/form deification that way?
That’s different even with less combat/cultivation obsessed xianxia like Jian Lai/Sword of Coming where you can have non-combat disciplines achieve divinity too. And even there the realm of man is of no consequence to the realm of gods who have their own territorial matters

Its crazy that this is what the reforms are and this is the reason why the heavens are ACTIVELY trying to THE PEOPLE with never ending winter. But while I was writing this, also after reading someone else’s comment, I thought: the gods themselves destroyed the divine bridge to stop any lower entities from ascending and bringing the fight to them, so maybe the reason they are actively killing humans with divine intervention as a warning to get rid of reforms is that all of the reforms with resources and training being given freely and to both genders and the other ones will eventually lead to having so many cultivators that almost anyone you find on the street is one and that will in turn lead to someone finding a solution to the divine bridge being broken and once that happens… You’ll have millions, possibly billions of people ready ascend and that is an army of humans coming straight for the gods with power of people who are so strong that Earth can no longer accomodate them so they have to go up to a higher realm
All of these cultivators who follow heaven in my opinion are just too scared to try to find a way to get stronger so they can somehow bypass the divine bridge to ascend and have the ability to challenge the heavens for all the injustice they’ve done to humanity and in so doing, become just as oppressive as the heavens themselves. they say by doing this and doing that, you go against heaven, but all of those things just makes humans stranger and better. The only reason everybody else calls them Heavenly Devil Sect is because their philosophy of turning everyday labors into cultivation essentially “decenters” the heavens as the point of focus and that hurts heaven’s feefees, so they through a tantrum and start killing innocent people and the sect firstly benefit from the way the gods want things to be, and secondly are TOO BITCH MADE to try and do anything about being bullied by the gods so they just go with the flow and say anything that doesn’t is devilic. But its kinda the same thing with the D. Clan in One Piece or Chen Nan’s heaven overturning 7 demon sabers, if the heavens are oppressive pieces of shit, then become he demons who are the antithesis of injustice and oppression
