It’s cool in a way that they are letting our boi roam freely in this place and also get to learn their ways of the Zen. I keep forgetting that he is cultivating multiple at the same time hahaha. I already almost forgot about that one since it’s been a while since we’ve seen him do these things. He has been busy with family reunion stuff and the CNY he’s been waiting for. 🤔🤔🤔 But the fast pace when it comes to comprehending them is always what baffles me the most for our beloved MCs.
Once again Qin Mu baffling some people that he is much different from all of them. And really if he wanted to go for the Zen path I don’t think our boi would want to be the next Rulai of all people. An MC as a monk, I don’t think we’ve ever had that before but it would be a first if it actually did happen. 😅😅😅
Welp, looks like even the monks are having a hard time with the heart demon of Granny Si. Here I thought their all powerful Buddha is going to be something else but looks to me like they are also struggling to keep that thing at bay. 😤😤😤
So our boi gets left behind in the Daleiyin Sect alone and now he has to fend for himself cause someone doesn’t want him to leave. The fact that they came here to try and get rid of the heart demon of Granny Si but Qin Mu ends up in a very complicated situation. Also, that monk at the end got what he deserved, he has been eyeing Qin Mu since from the start. And to think he is supposed to be the Zen Child and look at what he has been hiding from them. 🤦🤦🤦
He was more devilish than devils, clearly the only good thing going for him was staying at the Sect to “cultivate goodness” or he might have already been one of the top demonic killers 😂
Funny how Rulai got baited so easily by the prince, now they lost a random thousand protectors and prince faction accidentally killing wrong person, will MC be blamed or will Daleiyin sect fall out with the faction 😮
Rulai is supposed to be wise, why would he think that if he’s not there the other members have the ability to handle Li Tianxing?(BRO, ALL THE GRANPAS ARE STRONGER THAN THAT WHOLE SECT PUT TOGETHER), They wouldn’t have come here if it was some trivial matter, why did Rulai leave subduing a devil like that just to see the prince, this demon needs exorcising, or at least surpressing and there’s no way the prince wouldn’t wait for his appointment

It seems that there are many techniques is the heavenly demon tome that can be interpreted in a negative way and many probably have in the past and that’s why they have the reputation that they do. The only thing that is develic about the sect and their ways is that they go against the ways of heaven and focus allowing humans to progress by striving against nature using everyday practices as forms of cultivation

I was thinking the exact same thing because he can’t be stupid enough to think the other monks could handle him. At first, I thought he was using tactics to make grandpas leave the sect so he can force Qin Mu to stay but when he told ol’ boy to escort him down the mountain, it became “so he really is that dumb”
Daleiyin sect is no different to any other in this story, talking about righteousness and the way of heaven on one end and being various forms of despicable on the other, just less than others

The only explanation was his Zen was weak and I think it was also because what was explained at the end about his heart wavering cause he thought Qin Mu will take the position of the next Rulai. 🤦 🤦 🤦

Fuxin turned into the very thing he hated right before his death. I can already sense the frame-up that’s about to happen. Qin Mu, find your grandpas and leave that sanctimonious place behind.

On the surface: Rulai invited them and agreed to heal his grandmother. He opened his home and sect to them, allowing him to study their Sacred teachings. When Qin Mu’s guardians went away, he let Qin Mu leave regardless him being the leader of an enemy sect. In return, Qin Mu (seems like he) killed Rulai’s disciple, the Zen Child. And Grandma caused a huge disaster in their sect killing their disciples.
Of course, this is just what appears on the surface.
In reality: Rulai invited them and said he would treat grandmother, but he invited the Heavenly Devil Sect’s greatest enemy in the meanwhile. Knowing grandma’s inner demon – Li Tianxing will take control of her. (So he purposefully set an extremely powerful evil free to the World, not to mention causing Qin Mu to lose his Grandmother!) He purposely left Li Tianxing alone knowing he would escape and had no problems executing this plan, even though he knew the monks of his own sect would die in the hands of Li Tianxing (Grandmo’s inner devil).
He knew Qin Mu’s guardians would go after grandmother, leaving Qin Mu unsupported and in the hands of his enemies. He allowed Qin Mu to walk out of the sect right in front of his enemies (which he invited in the first place), ensuring Qin Mu would fall into their trap without Rulai having to dirty his own hands.
I doubt he realized his own disciple would turn to evil this easily though. But considering Rulai himself is making these calculations and the fact that he killed the wife and kids of his own most important student in the past (Old Pa – One armed Grandpa’s family), it’s not hard to see that he is actually far removed from Zen himself. What else could be expected from his student?
So, if Rulai captures Qin Mu (which he can easily do given his powers), he can pin everything on him. On the surface, it would appear that he holds the moral high ground, while in reality, he is “more evil than the devil himself,” just as Qin Mu called out the Zen Child in this episode.
I love the depth and genius level details behind the story. Truly a masterpiece.

this definetly makes a lot of sense, he did order the monks to kill his family. Also from reading how you’ve rationalised his thinking, I started to consider maybe Rulai knows the Zen Child’s zen heart is not the strongest and he still want Grandpa Ma to be his successor, planned the whole thing from top to bottom including letting Qin Mu learn the scripture knowing he would excel at it and make zenny uneasy, which would cause him to want to read the holy scripture and that shake his zen heart even more, which they could then blame on him Qin Mu to use to detain him, but he did not foresee the crown prince’s men killing the zen child. Maybe he was either expecting zen child to go crazy and restrain him and Mu or Mu possibly kills zen child in self defence
I imagined Rulai might be aware of Zen Child’s future actions too, and that maybe he laid the groundwork for it to happen, but didn’t want to speculate. But now that you said it, it makes a lot of sense actually.
Yes, this is exactly what happened. It is why he mentioned Qin was visiting the sect right in front of the Crown Prince because he knew the Prince would send assassins after Qin. Rulai was even willing to sacrifice many of his own monks to prove that the Heavenly Devil Sect is dangerous and destructive– allowing Grandma/ the previous Heavenly Devil Sect leader escape.

I know they have to speed things up for the sake of moving the plot along, but it’s hilariously ridiculous that a heart cultivator deviated to such an extent in such a short amount time for such a stupid reason.
Why even cultivate the heart if a bit jealously is enough to completely corrupt you within a couple of hours. And it’s not even warranted jealously
hubris and arrogance, they think themselves so enlightened that they cant even begin to question their hearts, kinda like the jedi in a way. they were so sure of their dogma that they failed to even consider if it was right. they just forced it down everyone’s throats, and thus we got vader
“Righteous” sects are admittedly well-known for caring more about the appearance/performance of righteousness than about the actual virtue.
If the Zen Child deviated so easily, you can pretty safely assume that a significant portion of the sect is corrupt, especially at the higher levels.
After some time I started coming to the thought that Rulai is completely aware of Zen Child’s shaking zen heart and set this up on purpose except the part where he dies

its so funny to me how all the sects that speak about righteousness and quite literally following the flow of heaven are deep down just super evil and and only care about the appearance of good and are willing to do stupid levels of evil just for themselves and keep up appearances, Rulai having Grandpa Ma’s family killed, thinking that will take his attachment away and make him come back or all those sects fighting the state preceptor under the guise of restoring the correct order under heaven, when the holy sect may have a bunch of techniques that very much can be understood and practiced in evil ways but actually go against the heavens to help the people in even the most insignificant activities of life, especially when the heavens are clearly being unjust. Just because Yankang is, trying to not exactly modernise, but make progress, like the two nations before them have made that heavens don’t agree with, The heavens sent down a brutal arse winter storm that many died from as a warning, not to mention the those 2 nations being completely destroyed and even the rules of reality being fucked when the sun goes down and one them not even being able to be found anymore. It just shows that all the righteous sect are really just following the example of heaven, appear to be good but be completely unjust when someone steps a toe out line
