Ok I’m very much loving this arc’s basically just Qin Mu & his Heavenly Demon Sect finally cashing in and constantly aura farming their power & influence after being persistently on the back foot since the last several arcs
To the emperor’s unnerving since it’s finally revealing the extent of the HDS’ infiltration of Yankang that they’ve basically achieved the goal of partially “pretending”/merging with the country
Although it’s almost 100 episodes since Yankang’s introduction in around episode 20 something (based on googling lol), and we’ve yet to see their imperialistic hypocrisy questioned or confronted after initially appearing as the antagonists invading Daxu and are now glossed over as a protagonist faction because most other sects and neighboring nations are worse at treating their relative subjects. Not that it ever justified or excused being imperialistic invaders and iirc Yankang also still practiced slavery
Considering there are other Wuxia and Xianxia works that are also narratively exciting and aesthetically cool, but develops their themes quite well like Renegade Immortal, A Will Eternal, Zhen Dao Ge, etc. that even if they have a hypocritical element to them, it’s often fleshed out at some point
It’s the kind of thematic incoherence that’s holding this work from reaching the realms of a proper 8/10 and beyond for me
Do you know Great Replacement Theory? That is what Sacred Ancestor Patriach of HSC implemented, QM agreed and abide by this idea as Sect Leader thus SAP went into retirement. As you can see this episodes clearly depicted that, beyond the Emperor almost everybody that matter is HSC members including Imperial Master himself, all under QM,a Daxu native, isn’t that a conquest without blood? Basically old Yankang was no more, this is now HSC country with Yankang’s as name only. Sure Yankang reform still went through as it align with HSC teaching, main reason why SAP enacted great replacement strategy. Even to certain extent Imperial Master knew this, as he mimicking HSC’s teaching in the first place. Not every politicking need to be bloody and loud, it would happened multiple times in ToHG.
This Arc has really dragged, can anyone who read the novel, how many chapter each episode is covering? They should had a movie or something, but I’m guessing Swallowed Star, and Soul Land inglufs most of the budget?

Actually it was shortened, some of the details from the novel is not included to the donghua. . . If I remembered it correctly the Heavenly Devil Cult had a minor casualties while saving the emperor and before the infiltration in the previous episodes and todays epeisode they excluded it.
