We don’t know if that egg is result of a phoenix going through Nirvana and failed as there is no soul existence. However Shi Hao seems to be quite sad as He has interacted with them on past timeline in immortal ancient, it’s hard if you face such a situation.
Witch is like a crime partner of Shi Hao, I mean do you guys have to ship every girl out there with MC, couldn’t they become just friends to hang out. Remember characters on PW are more mature than other donghuas. They don’t have unnecessary drama.
Few episodes ago they were treated like budding geniuses, now suddenly they are out here in Borderlands to prepare for future war, I mean it’s so cruel that you don’t even know how strong is the enemy you are gonna face. No matter from whichever sect you are a young master, once in the battlefield, death is looming over everyone.

They are more mature, even SH is Sigma type, the way witch interacted from start with him and the way Yue Chan did is completely diff, thus only Yue Chan would regret it later but Witch would still joke about everything untill end of timeline even in serious moments.
SH only gets embarassed when his dark truths comesl in front of public, like thise milk baby or eating enemies moments. I mean look at what they did during the adventure at lower realm in Kun Peng nest

I love them too. They have the most unpretentious and genuine interaction. I just went on the Chinese official page and skimmed through all kinds of fan posts and one of them actually got me rather surprised because I’ve read the novel like 5 times by now and I never caught the fact that the witch was actually in love (or secretly admired) SH for a long time. Since this “fact” might not be dwelled upon by the studio, I’ll just write it here as an improbable spoiler that will only happen in near the ending and that’s only going to be happening 5 years from now. Yes, they estimated this donghua will run until 2030.
Anyway, back to that fan theory, the witch nearly died in the last battle and when SH dug her out of a mountain of corpses, she smiled and told him (paraphrasing), “I knew you’re never going to let me die..”. The man that she was secretly in love was SH himself and according to that fan theory, there was a part in the novel that said she fell in love with a warrior she saw along the river of time. The heroic man was fighting all by his lonesome. Since then, she couldn’t forget that image and treated him as her only dream man, but she only realised that only towards the end who he is because she finally saw the same man that was in her old memory fighting the same war.
Anyway, I honestly don’t remember if I’ve read of such thing but SH’s saving her in the end is true and they both shared a very profound moment of lost and found. SH was glad to find her still alive because he has lost too much in that battle. 😢
