The Demon Hunter [Chang Yuan Tu] Episode 73 Indonesia, English Sub

The thing thats even better about this studio is that, at least in my opinion, all the shit that we like about demon hunter is actually orignal from the studio(my opinion refering to the shit we like, not that my opinion is that that shit is original, that part is a fact) itself because I’ve gone to read some of the manhua and listen to the audiobook of the webnovel and many of the concepts and mechanics of the story don’t work the same way in the original and are less interesting. Like secret techniques, in the donghua, a secret technique is a very personal and unique breakthrough that is tied to your personal history, in the original and stuff based on it, a secret technique is just the final stage of whatever martial art you practice so if someone else practices the same art and masters it they will have the same secret technique as you, not so secret, is it?

And Saint Bodies/Foundation posture, straight up? There is no such transformation, people have saint power and body and foundation power and body but it doesn’t give transformations, it just gives the physical body unique traits based on your foundation/saint powers. Saints are actually call godfiends aka Saint/Fiend like what Meng Chaun is but up to where I stopped there is absolutely no explanation for why that is their title.
The story is not as dark as the donghua, Meng Chuan doesn’t know he has a primordial spirit until he acheives secret technique and he tells his grand aunt about it and she has no idea what it is, another difference in that Mei Yuanzhi is a wasted character from what I know because just like in the donghua Meng Chuan, Yan Jin and Mei Yuanzhi are the brightest stars in the demon hunting contest but the contest is much less grand in scope with them entering a secret realm and instead just going into an arena with a captured demon and being graded on how fast and efficiently they can kill the demon, so no spontaneous friendship between the three of them and the boring thing of Yan Jin being seven swords king but actually being a pampered young master who was Li Huainan’s disciple instead of Mei Yuanzhi, he even has an attendant from his father’s clan and Mei Yuanzhi is just some guy who is really talented but nobody knows who he is.

!!BIG SPOILERS for the manhua AFTER THIS!!

They all score really high in defeating demons in the arena but Mei Yuanzhi finally comes across a demon thats pretty strong and it cuts off one of his arms and then that leads to the situation where he sets off to join the army to gain merit to spend on a way to get his arm back and THIS IS THE LAST TIME YOU HEAR ABOUT HIM at least to the point where I stopped and its just a side point Yan Jin and Meng Chuan talk about after they start getting closer as friends which happens AFTER the contest, where instead the donghua adds the tragic element to Mei Yuanzhi’s story of getting turned into a demon but with the hope that one day Mei Yuanzhi will come back and all three them might fight together again.

And THEEEEE MOST MAJOR change that actually changes the donghua from being an adaptation of the webnovel into being ORIGINAL STORY BASED on it is that the invasion of Dongning. During the invasion, Mei Yuanzhi’s saint foundation core was not what the demons used to summon themselves into the city, being a body refined saint is shown to not be anything like the donghua, also without the transformations, all of the saints who fight demon kings survive, Meng Chuan’s Primordial Spirit does not turn back time and does not summon his future self to destroy all the demons in the city, instead when Yan Jin’s sword seal activates, its not a warning for one strong demon, hes about to be killed in battle and it activates fully and King Anhai’s projection comes out and defeats a good portion of demons in the city, including the demon king trying kill his son but hes still an arshole so basically say this was his one and only chance, if he gets killed the future, he should only blame himself for being trash and because of his projection, the demons he didn’t kill run away in retreat from the city.

So everything before this point, there is still a strong connection in symmetry between the donghua and the manhua/webnovel but once the invasion is over, they become two different stories, where one is the original and the other is, in my opinion a much better, more interesting original story based off of the elements and building blocks of the first, where there are things in the first story that are just the way they are and the donghua’s story uses the fact that Meng Chuan awakened his primordial spirit extremely early compared to the original story to explain things from before that weren’t and give them context AND even recontextualize them based on Zhuang Sheng (primordial spirit) and his ability over space-time, one of major consequences being Meng Chuan’s life not going in the predetermined way it was meant go before, His mum knowing about this early on and other people getting a glimpse of the future as well and changing their actions based on that.
So effectively the donghua treats it’s own story like a seperate timeline where instead of being GODFIENDS, they are SAINTS and there’s this random kid who because his artistic ability, awakened something he was meant to get waaay down the line, much earlier and because of the repurcusions of that throughout time, he ends up as THE FIRST GODFIEND or put another put in other words, a Saint-Fiend
