I have seen the trailer for the next arcs and there will be a wang ping arc.
I don’t know what to think of this. I guess they used origin soul blood as a catalyst. But what is that ball of smoke? I really like the fights and all in RI but i cant simply put it number 1 donghua for me because its pretty much endless fights.. and i tend to appreciate depth of story more the older i get.. which is why Fanren and Han Li will always be the top for me.. however i think i probably would rate RI second.

Absolutely..it’s definitely a good donghua but it’s not great.. fights are also good-they entertain but it’s all so rushed all the time that there is barely any character development; very superficial if you look at it. It almost feels robotic
Quality wise, Fanren is unmatched- the details they put into every aspect of it is just darn impressive
What’s funny to me is that RI is far from being the “fight slop” compared to many other donghuas too
Like at least RI still feels like there are stakes and progressions in the tactics of a given encounter, and it’s not rare that WL’s suddenly pitted against challenging foes with higher cultivations
Meanwhile there are many other donghuas where it feels like the fight has no actual stakes either like Swallowed Star (hence I haven’t continued with it in months lol) whose side characters barely matter either compared to RI which has sparse character arcs but surprisingly woven together on a long ass duration
RI to me is kinda like Jojo’s stand fights, it’s creative fictional puzzle/problem solving of various challenges. But obviously run on a much longer and bigger time scale and frequency
Yeah i rewatched it few days ago once again.. man its so beautiful.. rollercoaster of feelings.. sadness..hapiness..its all there i rewatched it on another site cuz here the older episodes are kinda broken links.. i found on AnimeKai with probably best subs ive ever seen.. the translator went extra mile to explain every detail for certain therms/words why/how/when are they used origins etc it was such a blast wish i knew about this translated version earlier id highly recomend to anyone who wanna rewatch it before june new season comes out to check it there.

Damn right dude, RMJI feels like a cinematic masterpiece of world building while RI feels like a high-speed highlight reel in comparison
RI is entertaining no doubt but if you compare it to RMJI, it does feel lacking
The show truly is fast. But i like that. Other shows need 400 episodes to get where RI got in just 40. Multiple major plot twists already happened in such a short amount of time.
And then look at BttH, it took hundreds of episodes to even reach low level Dou Zong, and it took for ever as well to finally reach Dou Zun. Which was just 10 levels away.
Thank god this changed in recent times. But now he levels so fast, that it makes no sense anymore when looking back at the show, when higher levels need normally more time to cultivate. It looks like he’s getting free EXP handouts.
That guy skipped an entire cultivation state (Ban Sheng) and jumped straight into Dou Sheng, highest “mortal” character class and hardest to achieve.
This is like your lvl 5 character defeats a lvl 30 boss. And you jump multiple levels. Like in Diablo or random JRPG etc.
They did it wrong from the very beginning, aka backwards, and then switched the coin. Its so bad. They messed up the entire show.
I see your point on the pacing, but I have to agree to disagree. For me, this hyper-fast approach strips the soul out of the donghua. The reason BTTH resonated so well in the early seasons was that we actually lived through XY’s journey and felt his struggles. In contrast, Wang Lin’s progression feels almost mechanical. The tragedy with his parents was the only time where I empathized with him. RI is definitely efficient, but it feels clinical. Because the donghua rushes through the development, WL feels more like a machine than a person

Xiao yan is not even top 5, he is a boring bland NPC who uses plot armor to get stronger. Without plot armour, he will still be stuck at dou wang. Shi Hao better fit for top 2.
