Totally! We need more of PW humour! I love this kind of bantering and quips rather than plain slapstick comedy that is so common in other donghuas.
That’s also the reason why the supporting characters in PW are so endearing despite them taking a backseat all the time just to let the MC shine. They can be frigging sassy. Later with the addition of “the golden creature”, the gang gets even livelier and snarkier. One of my fav line from Fatty Cao was: “why don’t you kill yourself by ramming your head into a piece of tofu”. LMAO!!

Ehm i don’t like it. it seems to me the studio dismissed the original 1 vs 3 in novel just to shorten the story.. and it felt shorter than it should’ve been.. tch.. and what that elder just happened to pass by? wtf lolol~ i mean surely his skillset isn’t much different when fighting that Purple Sun (Zi Ri).. but i don’t like the fact they forgot to pummel that blue haired girl (Lan Xian) and that monk (Xu Tuo) as well. That guy Qi Gu will refuse to join the crowd fighting, but just in physical strength, he’s actually the strongest between the three.. Rather than the original 1 vs 3, they added nonsensical conversation plus flashbacks that might made sense.. i mean why? only 1 vs 3 can truly make him shine among his peers. it shows that Huang is the epitome of power and strength!
Oh yea now they’re putting that red jiao/flood dragon in the end of the episode~ let’s see.. it’s supposed to provoke Huang in 1 v 3 ok.. now what? it’s kinda annoying honestly.. plus yea how does everyone seemed to know that Huang is trying to take the broken path? i mean it’s sorta a logical consequence but normally they would think of him like a normal person. so by novel logic, he’s not gonna take it according to other people.. the exciting part is he break through common misconception or perception, literally telling others he’s the one. so yea if u ask me this episode doesn’t feel like “Return of the King” at all.. also he missed out to show off his peak understanding of myriad spirit map – one breath, ten thousand spirits against Lan Xian..
So, I feel that this episode is a butchered version of ch 1266 – 1278 and i think that this episode is a really bad representation of those chapters.. i feel bad for real.. like dunno? maybe if i don’t have expectations i won’t be disappointed? in any case, “Return of the King” episode is supposed to be more glorious..

Actually, I was expecting a special episode for this after all, for me it’s the “Return of the King” episode. And yes, the spectacle is missing. But since they didn’t do it, I can understand why they change the order of the fight. The 4 vs 1 fight is not over yet. It’s deferred till next week. It’s clear they didn’t want to invest in a special episode, but at the same time, they didn’t want to shorten the fight with Purple Monarch, so they only concentrate on him this week.
If you look at the preview, you’ll see that those four will still fight with SH. I’m actually surprised that they kept the dragon (from Xu Tuo) provocation part. Apparently, they even split the entry into two parts. From the preview, there seems to be another barrier (the part where you see the Lunar Rabbit walks through a veil-like barrier) and then it ends with the major spoiler with Fatty Cao being hit by a “creature”.

Really? My memory must have gotten foggy then. All I remembered was the post-battle discussion that he fought four geniuses. Tbh, I don’t quite remember how the battle went. Just bits and pieces like he tricked Xu Tuo with his Chaos Calming Art Primordial Spirit wannabe and he accidentally shredded Lan Xian’s garment. And of course, purple eggplant got trashed completely, nearly dying. But maybe I really need to reread. My mind is aging faster than me. Lol!

Honestly I didn’t read pw because I didn’t want to spoiled but to think they aare rushing things dude that’s not good we could wait but please don’t destroy the plot and fight scene 😭 and yeah you are right even I was thinking like why shi hao reveled it too early like he perfected the body as seed it was kinda rush this thing could be waited for 1vs3 but yeah I think studio is really want to finish it?
After watching today’s episode, I can understand why my fellow shidi Valevan was disappointed. I was disappointed too in the beginning. I didn’t understand why they cut off the most glorious (4 vs 1) fight. But after watching the preview I kinda understood. The studio is just scrimping on the expenses to produce a special episode. Maybe they want to invest this into a more worthy special episode. IMO, that was a miscalculation. This “Return of the King” arc is definitely worthy of a special episode. Like come on… make his comeback with a loud bang!
But I’m also trying to cut the Studio some slack because we novel readers go through chapters over chapters of Shi Hao’s seclusion and then another few chapters of the peanut gallery talking smack just to build up our emotion and anticipation of his return. But in the donghua, it’s difficult to create such momentum.
One thing I didn’t quite agree with is the “spoiling” of Shi Hao’s cultivating the body as a seed beforehand. Just like what Valevan said, how does everyone know what path SH is cultivating? By logic, it just doesn’t make sense because Grand Elder is not someone who would go around spreading such tale before even knowing if SH could make it out alive.
Despite the letdown, I still think they did a good job into some minor add-ons like the reappearance of Mo Dao (the poor lackey), the enticing gesture of the witch lady and they also didn’t forget mentioning SH’s passion for **food**. Lol. In the novel, he really asked for some meat from the poor creature (and later feasted on it with his friends). That was some of the funny moments that they didn’t recreate in the donghua but I get they simply cannot show everything. I’m already happy they even gave us some flashback of the foodie Shi Hao. Lol.
Fingers crossed. Hopefully, they don’t let us viewers down next week. Looking at the preview, I’m optimistic. At least the first appearance of the “golden creature” smacking Fatty Cao looks hilarious.

Regarding the big fight, maybe you’re right, there was something about Qi Gu being too arrogant to group fight SH. I don’t know why I always had the 4 vs 1 fight in my mind despite not being able to recall the specifics. And sadly, I don’t have the time to reread PW now. So I can only rely on you, our President of PW encyclopaedia.
i mean if he asked for head the guy will be permanently dead for sure.. after all, this is not SwS (swallowed star) where u can regenerate even if ur head is blasted away after reaching a certain level. they always have emphasis on head as the house of spirit or primordial spirit.
i’m far from being encyclopedia.. i should’ve put my time into reading and perfecting the wiki whenever i had the time.. but whenever i reread the story, my mind just go blank for next chapter lol~
yep btw, we never know till the end of the story who is witch’s lover~ one conversation suggested that she might have been love struck with exiled immortal but we never know if that’s only senior junior relationship.. after all, witch didn’t deny nor agree when subjected to such questions by shi hao.. i mean i remember the time when shi hao said teasing words to her. ofc, others might say that their relationship is like a close friend teasing each other.. but i’m more leaning towards another option that shi hao is taking chances.. if he got the chances he will try to take it.. well, we never know for sure.. but after all, they’re quite close and it was never stated in detail about these things..
i mean, much like fatty cao and jade lunar rabbit.. their relationship is unique and literally in a complicated and undefined state.. jade lunar rabbit always use any chances to express her unique love via kicking fatty cao in the face, but she never actually have any flirting thoughts (or maybe it wasn’t noted by the author), in any case, she’s pure till the end.. and fatty cao himself is like a man with few words.. he’s missing her and looking for her traces till the end of the world without finding it.. but he keeps looking for her in case he missed it. in any case, fatty cao is a very diligent and dedicated person in this case. i guess he got used to her love kick for some reason wkwk.. sorry why are we discussing this again? oh right, cuz of witch..
yes qi gu is proud and strong.. in fact for sure that guy is the strongest in physical strength after shi hao himself. remember that qi gu is training the manual that is made by sacred academy while shi hao is only training the introductory bone tempering art, but his physical body still surpass him by far. and this is proven later by lifting up the projection of the heavenly horned ant cauldron.. wait, it’s cauldron, right?
