And they were in stalemate. Even with renewed efforts from huns , sky alliance was going strong. Many forces were joining sky alliance after the announcements from pill tower.
At the same time in central plain, halls of hall of souls and cities of sky alliance were being heavily fought over and destroyed by each other. When Xiao Yan re-emerges , he basically wipes out the closest hall around the demon flame area killing its dou sheng protector.
When hun clan learns this they retreats from all war fronts , abandons their halls in central plain and then sends the challenge letter for a decisive all out battle.
But I guess these kind of events may make stories a little interesting so of course they didn’t show any of those.
