R.I is in my Top 2, it is beyond amazing, story is so amazing without any plot holes. everything here makes sense not like BTTH and TGR (sudden power boost wtf seriously out of nowhere).
for me it’s a tie between A Record of Mortal’s Journey to Immortality and Renegade Immortal for 1st spot.
RMJI is such an underated donghua, it is much more realistic when we talk about cultivation world, constantly improving visuals, and the music and soundtracks amazing.. it deserve more recognition, they are putting a lot efforts and time in that. every fight scene uses motion capture..
it is slow paced but i like it. Although most people dislike it because of it but that’s make it more likable. it is detailed.
Currently, RI and RMJI are top 2 on my list as well. I would say
I like RMJI a but more because of the Realism it incorporates. And I am not saying RI is bad, but it seems more superficial, while RMJI is more traditional.

Yeah, also for RI, the censoring and changing of some parts of the story, and I am not talking about the Liu Mei sex scene, I mean Wang Lin’s ruthless nature being toned down significantly.
For example in the novel, Wang Lin literally committed mass Genocide on the Teng Family Revenge Arc, he was killing every last descendant down to the children, not Teng Huayuan sacrificing half the city for a Reverse formation (that never even happened) . Reminded me of Revered Insanity …
But maybe studio had their reason for doing it … Maybe the kids are watching this donghua .. 😅

Probably going to get downvoted for this but RMJI does not beat RI for me. It is too blatantly haremy on top of being excruciatingly slow. Some episodes are just entirely talking and the slowest zoom in/zoom out/panning purely for filling up time.
Not for filling up the time blud. That’s to make it realistic like how a normal human would take a second to process something and show their facial micro expressions. I’d call this the beauty of RMJI. It treats characters like actual humans and not like caricatures.
RI just rushes through everything. I dont remember ever seeing those details on their faces ever. Maybe you like things at 2x speed but for me its impossible to connect with a character when they just go through motions mechanically
Yeah RMJI is so realistic including facial features, details, human emotions, interactions, scheming, cultivation development is slow but also realistic. RMJI author also explains everything from beginning to end including how Han Li got the green bottle, there are 0 plot holes theres.
I would say RMJI “captures the human heart and emotion into the donghua” A truly masterpiece, that I would rate 11/10.
Even if its slow, give it time to cook, and everyone will come around. I am so hyped for that new season on june 13.

If you really want it to be “realistic”, you’d spend 20 episodes on han li sitting in “closed door meditation”.
I don’t care about seeing “facial micro expressions”, you can see that in real life. I am here to see what can’t be done in real life. The shows are meant to entertain people. Being “realistic” for the sake of being realistic for a fantasy setting over being entertaining is the wrong thing to focus on.

I understand you are fan of RI but calling it without plot holes is wild. At so many points it felt extremely superficial with mindless action, rushed and no character development. My second beef with RI is the animation quality- it just feels tacky compared to RMJI.
RMJI is leagues above RI imho- slow paced for sure but when it does action, it does it beautifully completely outclassing others. If nothing adrenaline pumping happens in an episode, mere savouring the animation quality makes up for that
it is 100% without plot holes. i’m not taking about donghua adaptation but novel. everything that happens makes sense.
In donghua they skipped a lot and censored too, as i mentioned already it is fast paced. if it were paced at 2/3 of current speed then it would be on the top no doubt

and perfect world is also fast paced. now you can tell how fast they are going so non-novel readers can’t understand some things properly, even some mini arcs are skipped.
dude we don’t anchor our critique on novel since not all of us are novel readers. I speak of what I see on screen. Whatever happened in novel is not my concern. I wanna enjoy what I see and when it doesn’t make sense, I call it out- it’s that simple
