I loved it, not a single fight scene. Naturally, you’d expect fight scenes left and right after breaking through Dou Sheng. This felt like resting at a Bonfire in Dark Souls, just to take a breather for a while.

Granted, they are used quite sparingly.

what a boring episode
Honestly since last episode when Yao Lao and Xiao yan’s crew just stood without saying a word when he became Dou Sheng, the more it’s obvious they are doing zero work in the background characters, to save time and effort and it’s killing this donghua slowly because they are now just NPCs. They always voicing the same stuff, Xiao Yan, then only one of the background characters talks for a little time. The last episode only Yao Lao had something meaningful to say, apart from the usaul chorus NPC response ;Xiao Yan like they have zero minds of their own. Even what Yao Lao says at time is quite useless and extremely brief at times, avoiding any conversation that did take time like it’s a disease. They should just covert the series to a video gane back story at this point, cause it’s just Xiao Yan, and other NPCs that talk.

no kidding – they made it seem like a Dou Zong was a big deal and that a Dou Zun was some sort of mythical being that most people would never see, but now that MC is a Dou Sheng, freaking Ban Shengs and Dou Shengs are crawling out of the woodwork like ants.
Also: I get that the Jia Ma Empire XY grew up in was kind of “out in the sticks” so a Dou Zong seemed like a big deal when he was definitely not “top dog” material in the Central Plains, but now I have to wonder why Soul Hall was even interested in or bothered with Yun Shan and his sect since they were super small potatoes by comparison – it’d be like the NYC or Chicago mafia bosses getting involved with a band of middle school delinquents in Ohio based on all the Dou Zuns, Ban Shengs, and Dou Shengs we have seen since then.
This is just a scale misunderstanding. Hall of souls wasn’t interested in Yun Shan. Just one of their Dou Zong minion was out there. Not even an elder of Dou Zun class.
Dou Shengs are treated as myth and are considered as rare as phoenix, but that’s the thing. Dou Shengs wouldn’t appear in front of people of lower realms. Because 1 Dou Sheng vs whole central continent and the Dou Sheng would win. Of course, all the top sects have their own ban sheng/dou shengs. Otherwise how would they even be ‘top sects’?

Well the competition in Jia Ma Empire wasn’t supposed to have most of the scenes it did anyway. I knew people would find the later ones boring in comparison. Story wise, the whole thing in Jia Ma Empire was a shit show. It just looked flashy, so anime onlys can enjoy it. But it was literally devoid of logic.
There is no way that someone attacking other in an alchemy competition like that is allowed. Them having battle on stage was plain brain rot. Him showing off 2nd heavenly flame and no one questioning anything was a bigger brain rot. Also, alchemy works with calm and peaceful mind. No way he can craft a pill while getting interrupted like that.
