Hey I have some really bad news, I just seen the preview for Episode 159, and there was no Medusa and Xiao Xiao shown in the preview (xiao yan’s daughter). I was optimistic at first, but now I fear the worst has come. They removed xiao xiao and medusa won’t be xiao yan’s first wife any more. There was no interactions between xiao yan and medusa either.
Even this episode they evidence points to their removal, before xiao yan’s left Gu realm, his last conversation with Xuner is supposed to be about his relationship with Medusa and the baby. But studio skipped it , so the evidence this episode already points to her removal.
Something was cut off this episode for sure, because a normal episode length is 18 minutes, this episode was 16 min length. I am guessing it was Xiao Yan’s conversation with Xuner about Medusa.
I can’t even be mad anymore, just sad and disappointed what this has become.

Yes they did that before with the Medusa scene during the fallen heart flame arc, but I am not sure if they animated this one. Because they can just animate a 16 min episode instead of 18 min one. Anyway the previews are on YouTube, not hard to find, and yeah medusa reduced to friend and xiao xiao deleted.

Unfortunately its an poor adaptation that is doing its own thing deviating heavily from the OG work clearly not adapting it page for page. Author saying anything or not doesn’t matter as its not the Author that runs the animation adaptation studio and what ever plot they want to adapt itself. Sometimes its good like in the OG Shaman King that comes to mind love it a lot more than the OG manga itself but in this case F who ever is adapting BTTH and making this poor decisions ruining all the love interest plot lines.

You can’t compare Hn Li+ NW scene to Fallen heart flame. Medusa resisted XY and he forced himself on to her literal r*pe. Han Li and NW both got seduced due to aphrodisiac and shown no resistance till it wore off.

Last I checked on ep 41, both Xiao yan and medusa was both under the effect at least on ep 41, and it was medusa who came closer to xiao yan when he told her not to. Also, it doesn’t matter because if both Han Li and Nangong Wan was unwilling to do that, its considered r*pe, because there was no consent. Both their situation was actually quite similar.
But it doesn’t really matter anymore, because the problem became so big that they are deleting an important character.
We’ll see i will give it a few more ep but if they really are cutting out Medusa as one of the wifes yeah I’m dropping this garbage immediately. There are just some main story points that if changed make it a whole different adaptation with a lot less hmm soul in it.

If they wanted to do that, no need to show that he has Dragon Phoenix bloodline. We obviously know, how he got it. And as of now, atleast in this donghua, Xiao Yan doesn’t know about the existence of his kid, how is he supposed to tell it to Xun’er ?
o7 to the BTTH anime adaptation will give it maybe 2 more ep to be sure having XY reunite with his people from the Alliance but yeah cutting out Medusa one of my main main reason for watching it as shes top anime wifu period tctctc stupid decision from who ever is running this show.

I’m sorry for being pedantic, but If they already cut a lot of the content involving medusa, then it would be weird if Xiao Yan randomly started talking about her and having a kid with her.

But for real though, as a person who knows nothing of the original, even I am scratching my head when it comes to relationship development between characters in this show. This season especially everyone is so formal, stiff, boring, and acting like acquaintances. I’ve seen strangers that appear to be closer to each other compared to Xian Yan and Xuner.

Not to mention the repetitive (reused) models. No other donghua ever make reused models, even the low budget studios.

There’s a slight difference from what I watched on YouTube… there are scenes that were either deliberately cut or not shown here. For example, when Yao Chen gave Xiao Yan a bit of advice not to fully trust the Dou Zuns who were going to help him.

Yea I’m not sure if it was because of first impressions or if they made him thinner but he did look more buff at the start. Also his shirt was open at the chest, and that plus him working as a mercenary /bounty hunter contributed to the sense of strength/chunkiness. He always did justice to his title, Hai Bo Dong = The Ice Emperor.
