They really did downgrade the appearance of Little Fairy Doctor. My personal tinpot conspiracy is they did it because they don’t want Xun’er to be outclassed in looks since she’s already not very popular in general.

If they want to go 1 wife route, at the very least, it should belong to medusa, because xuner is not that popular . I personally dont like xuner either, i think medusa, xiao yixian, yun yun has way better chemistry with him.
The portrayal of Xuner in the donghua is far removed from what she is in the novel. Even her appearance has been dummied down. She is supposed to be Ethereal and drop dead gorgeous. For her it is always been XY and no one else. For XY she is his first and true love. Medusa is something that happened out of their control that brought they closer and love eventually came through. As for XiaoXiao, she is more a little sister to him not a love interest. As for the Fairy Doctor, she is the closed friend that he has.
Xiao xiao is supposed to be his daughter, how weird and awkward would it be to make her a little sister? As for xuner I agree. As for medusa and LFD , it was already clear that they both loved Xiao yan.
Like I said, the best thing is for them to hand BTTH to another studio. Garbage yuwen has made too many errors and its already beyond redemption. And I am not only talking about censorship, have you noticed the fights seem so repetitive? The models are re-used and lazy (Even LFD’s new purple model today looks bad). And it feels like the content is being rushed. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to many mistakes, this goes beyond censorship. Its like they violated and tarnished BTTH.

But I agree the fights are rather repetitive; I’ve mentioned this before.
It’s why I dropped Swallowed Star and Throne of Seal and Soul Land 2 (as well as some others), but so far the “side stories” (AKA political machinations, revival of the Xiao clan, the possibility of him having a daughter, etc.) have kept me around for BTTH so far, but I might always change my mind at some point or at least wait a while and skip to a better part of the story where he has gotten some ability boosts that might change his fighting style.
His last major fight style changes were really getting the Lightning Step, the puppet, the clone, the “infinite rule” (or whatever they call that thing where he spins his sword around him and forms a funky defensive donut), the 3-fire mysterious change, and the mountain flipping seal – but all those happened quite a while ago now, so it’s long overdue to add some new tricks to his magic show, lol.
Fights aside, I’m willing to cut the studio a bit of slack, because it’s obvious the government censors are sticking their mealy fingers into this series and telling the studio what they can and can’t do regarding the love interests, so it seems like they’re doing the best they can with what they have on that front. That still doesn’t excuse the stale fights though… however, that fight this episode wasn’t all that stale: we got to see XY trashing some dude that’s way weaker than him, and that’s not something we get to see all that often as he usually fights stronger or near-peer adversaries, so it was nice being able to see his growth and watching him “kick puppies”, so to speak, especially when that puppy used to be a big mean dog that gave him shit in the past, hahaha.

The anticipated reunion with Medusa was literally the only reason I’ve been watching this lol. That and his student x teacher scenes are easily the best thing this show had going for it. Xun’er is a completely undeveloped, cookie-cutter non-entity by comparison. “Xiao Yan Gege” makes me cringe so hard I can’t even stand it. People say the novel makes her the deserved FML, and that’s fine, but I can only judge by what I see here, and that ship has been stuck in the harbor since day 1. Hell, even Xiao Wu in Soul Land was more interesting LOL. Truthfully, it was saving Yao Lao that kept me watching, so I see no reason to continue this..

it’s not the studio: it’s the Chinese Government Censors. Remember – the studio showed a preview of XY and Medusa getting it on in the pit of the Fallen Heart Flame, but the censors made them remove it in the actual episode the next week and basically told them they could only give him one love interest.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next ep of XY showing those generals his current power. More importantly looking forward to the reunion and maybe meeting the parents.

Similar things have already happened where they adjusted the timeline of things, and just I don’t see them randomly bringing in Xiaoxiao at this particular point, because it wouldn’t make sense at all compared to the reasoning for her presence in the manhua: instead of introducing Xun’er to his daughter, he’d need to be introduced to her first, right? So the timing wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever.
Plus, it looks like next episode will be entirely a fight episode where he smears the floor with the blood of Gu clan NPCs anyways.

It’s been literally more than 2 years since the studio was forced to cut the “lovemaking scene” from the series that was shown in the previews, and people have been up in arms about it ever since – FFS, if you’ve waited this long, why not just wait a little longer? They’ve already implied that Medusa seemed “pregnant” with some sort of a combination of her and XY’s energies, so I’m guessing a XiaoXiao will eventually show up – it’ll just be a baby born of their energies mixing instead of XY’s man seed.

Ayo, what happened to this show? After the Three Year Contract Arc, it’s just the same plot over and over (someone trying Xiao Yan’s strength, and getting their butts handed to them by the end. That’s it. The only variation is someone Deus Ex Machina saves his behind, and then beats the other person eventually. It’s so basic 🤷🏻). Not even a mention of saving his father, who might still be alive. And this “romance” of Xun’er that was just plopped over our heads, take it or leave it, no development whatsoever–”they’re a couple, deal with it”–is just so lazy. Compare the superior Yun Yun or Medusa storyline to this drivel. This is what’s called plot convenience. And the wooden, cardboard, or cookie cutter storytelling? Meh. Excellent animation, though.

the reason why everyone favors xuner is because she is the childhood, but even i like medusa way more better than xuner, i think if they toss it. i believe alot people will quit watching then the studio will realize what big mistake they have made even if they do not care
I’m not a fan of one single female character, nor Medusa, nor Xun’er, nor Xiao Yi Xian, etc. But I think if in the novel there are many female characters then so be it. Do not change it.
Because in long series movies like this, one single female character will be very boring. In short movies (like those in theaters), I absolutely don’t mind with one single female character.
Romance and battles (or fights) should exist together in a good portion. That would be a perfect movie, IMHO.
