the fact this donghua is 2nd or 3rd most popular on this s1te should be a crime. The TL has been Machine TL the entire way through. The animation is good but janky and the action is also both okay and weird… but janky, jerky most of the time.

The worst offense is the horrible energy CGI. Even NOW, 150+ episodes in and every new technique/power MC gets, IT JUST BECOMES THE SAME OLD LAZY GOLDEN SPRAY, CLOUD, FIRE, MIST, ETC.

Maybe that’s how qi is in the novel? Idk, but a lazy stupid golden mist EVERYTIME?

His reincarnation runes are cool. Runes are cool. They’re like tangible energy so it’s cool. They have layers so it seems unique and bold and authentic. All they need is to just LAYER his “golden energy” with white or other hue’s of golden/yellow.

Idk im not a CGI person but ive noticed the entire story that the energy is so silly the entire time. I dropped it around 100 episodes because the energy was just Golden….or Blue. And this gold/blue had NO depth, no layers, no tangibility; just lazy golden/blue clouds!

And then, to make it even worse, all the cannon fodder EVER have is their sect’s color energy. No variation whatsoever. If they’re wearing purple, they shoot the laziest looking, stock image purple sword energy out.

No variety at all. No depth. No detail.

Shrouding the Heavens (though not fair comparison considering STH has Mortal’s Journey level CGI/Animation throughout) but STH’s MC has “golden energy” too. But the difference is night and day. Shrouding Heaven CGI team put in Top Tier work with their CGI. The Gold has depth, layers, looks tangible, even has other colors mixed in to make the Gold stand out even more.

And they’re always using a wide variety of colors for the energy throughout the entire show. And it’s not like that show is slow. It’s another cliche chinese speedrunner “and then and then and then” with a huge chase or big fight EVERY episode.

I guess it just shows the difference in quality but here I am, so there are qualities of this story I enjoy. I can’t say the energy and his powers are one of them. They’ve always seemed lacking. CGI team who does the energy need help.
