There are still brief romance moments but yeah over all they’re very much toned down (that moment after the save and them staring into each others eyes at least the one animator that cared for the romance bit did a good job) the way i see it this series for me have become an action comedy and i stopped taking it seriously lets me be less mad at it over all. This ep was great the whole series have potential to be as good consistently but the rewriting is just hurting it too much. I’ll be reading the donghua at some point to get the actual good story for sure mean while this one is an mindless pop corn weekly watch till the Queen Medusa is on screen will see after when they part ways if its worth continuing.

The studio is a bunch of lazy fat ass idiots. In addition to Yanran, in the novel, all the flower sect girls are supposed to follow Xiao Yan. But, they studio twisted it and just left all the other girls behind (except YY), so they can save their lazy fat asses.
Pay attention to the next Bodhi Tree arc scenes. In the novel, these arc should involve a lot of people/characters, or in short “crowds”.
You’ll see that they’ll avoid of making a crowd as much as possible. They either just zoom in certain characters or blurry the background so they can save their fat ass of making multiple characters in one scene.
Try and give the guys making the show a little break. Episodes are created in VR. The cost is going to be much more due to the fact it requires support help for each person wearing VR gear etc. IMO the guys wearing the VR gear are lucky, they’re getting paid to work in VR and the experience gained from it will put them far ahead of over 90% of all VR users.

The first major change noticed was between 2023-2024. Over 25 Donghua removed fMC’s and romantic love interests of MC’s or the show suddenly stopped airing.
