I’m not positive on whether XY knew him as a person without his mask while Xun’er was still staying with the Xiao Clan prior to the Misty Cloud Sect’s attack on the Xiao family or not, but the way XY calls him Master Ling as soon as he takes off his mask makes me think that perhaps XY knew him as such previously and that he might have lived with the Xiao clan without his mask on, and he only put it on after being given the order to shadown the MC by Xun’er, but my memory sucks so I could be wrong… I’m basically basing this guess on XY calling him by name as soon as he removed the mask.Made me lol.
The way XY greeted him after he took off his mask makes me think that maybe he was one of the elders or something at the Xiao clan at the beginning of the story, but my memory isn’t good enough to recall if he was actually there or not. Plus, S1 was so SO very different in terms of character design, that even if I could remember him, he probably looks WAY TF different now.
It would make sense for him to be in the early Xiao Clan episodes since it wouldn’t be logical for the Gu Clan to leave their princess at the Xiao Clan without a protector of some sort.
