Mm, nope! You ain’t making me feel for the Emperor! Bruv was too arrogant! 😤
..Then again, I guess what he’s saying is kinda true~ 🫠
Hah, I only got the gist of it, but I did get the Empress was getting the short end of the stick. So, nice! 😂
Gotta note to myself that there ere are two Cui-Chan now, Smoll Cui-Chan n old Cui-Chan 😆
Anw, smoll Cui-Chan getting disciplined by his Master was hilarious 😂
Woooooooo, Mc’s not backing down without a fight now!! Bruv’s standing up for himself n his friends!! Not the weak self anymore!! 😈 🔥 🔥
Love his attitude!! 🔥🔥
I don’t think I even have to say this anymore, but! I feel like this is also gonna be one of the top tier Donghua in a coupla more yrs, just like ‘Fanren’! The beginning is hella slow, which is good cuz they’re actually word building, but once the dice finally starts to roll… it’ll be an unstoppable force!! This WILL be fighting for the top spot when the time comes!! 🗿 🔥
Speaking of ‘Fanren’;
19 frigging days since Fanren’s season has ended! 🧘
Yeah, they’d better think twice of what they are about to do from here on out, since A’liang already gave them his warning if they actually still mess around with Chen Ping’an and the others. 💀 💀 💀 The price that they all had to pay for messing with him was definitely not small fam. This is what you get for messing with someone who is that powerful, sheesh!!!
That crazy Empress should also be dealt with, as she doesn’t know what she is getting into. A’liang fr instilled that warning upon them, especially the Emperor of Great Li. We can finally say goodbye to this b*tch to stop causing trouble for Chen Ping’an and his little merry group. 😤 😤 😤
Welp, even if they do cause trouble for him still, since we know it’s coming, once Chen Ping’an achieves a higher level of cultivation later. Revenge is always sweet when it comes at a later date. 💪 💪 💪 But right now, he needs to focus on getting much stronger.
And here I thought we were already having a relatively peaceful episode, and some random people just want to cause trouble with them. Sigh, we already know that there will never be peaceful days when an MC is involved in unexpected troubles. 😅 😅 😅
Yup, and looks like next episode they are about to experience something crazy. Now that A’liang is not with them anymore, we will have to see what our boi does in that situation. 🤔 🤔 🤔
WTFDYM “Sudden appearance”? You tried to kill the guy
welp.. the opening and ending theme songs are gone again…
Xin is doing that cause with Dailymotion they remove the video. You can try the other servers they still have it.
this kids talking such a breath of fresh air braa
Some philosophy in this series are so beautiful yet hard to comprehend. And it always goes over my head. Lol
Nice. Starting to form scholarly aura already, Baoping is true successor to Qi JingChun.
I wonder how powerful western philosophers would be in a world where simply being a “scholar” gives you tangible power, or at least, an affect on the world beyond one’s self.
Aristotle would show up and be right about literally everything ascend to the highest level over night?
the emperor is talking about Ping An holding grudges but because hes gone through so much hardship, he just held it in. at first, I was like “BUuuuuLSHiT!” but when I thought about, there are examples like when he killed the chick for destroying his bridge of longevity, when he almost strangled that other guy to death but Jingchun stopped him(PLS remind me if he was being controlled at the time) and also the time with the big as old man who ended up being a giant stone ape. Am I tripping? And I also don’t know why his mom is justifiying killing him for Song Mu as revenge or to stop some danger from coming back, when first of all she didn’t actually care about him and just using him because he was gonna be in control of those 12 swords and also after that one time as kids where he wasn’t really going to kill him, he was just showing his frustration at being fooled into doing something against his promise, after that the most they interacted was exchanging a few words every morning and the moment he left the village Ping An didn’t think about him again
Chen Ping’an certainly holds a grudge, and as the emperor said, Chen Ping’an holds a grudge almost like no other, except that Chen Ping’an is weak and aware of it, so he’ll try to keep a low profile, waiting until he’s strong enough to settle the score, because he’ll do it quite satisfactorily. In the first season, he acted against Cai Jinjian and Fu Nanhua only because he was controlled by Liu Zhimao’s talisman, but he acted against the monkey because he hurt his best friend and would seek justice for it even if he died to obtain it.
The empress wants to kill Chen Ping’an both to avenge the “wrong” suffered by her son Song Jixin/Mu and so that she can cultivate in peace without any entanglements in her mental state. If you look carefully at the dialogues between the emperor and his son in previous episodes, the emperor says he prefers Song Jixin/Mu, while the empress prefers another son, Song He.
The relationship between Song Jixin/Mu and Chen Ping’an is far from over: Chen Ping’an has purchased a couple of mountains within the territory of the Dali Empire, he was also chosen as Qi Jingchun’s younger brother, and if you think about it carefully, Chen Ping’an was the one who found that golden fish and is therefore its rightful owner even if he later gave it away (which is why Liu Zhimao and Gu Can’s mother wanted Chen Ping’an dead), similarly, Chen Ping’an was also the first one who found “that girl” who now follows Song Jixin/Mu.
In this episode, Imperial Preceptor Cui Chan clearly lays out the Empress’s plan: she brought Song Jixin/Mu so that he would be recognized by those 12 swords, then she beheaded Song Yuzhang, who, within the Li Zhu Grotto-Heaven, didn’t openly deny being Song Jixin/Mu’s father, but she kept his head in order to use it as a deterrent to control Song Jixin/Mu, who has conflicting feelings towards Song Yuzhang. All this was done to use Song Jixin/Mu as a springboard and protector for her other son, Song He, whom she cares about more.
The emperor warned Cui Chan to be careful because he was the one who opened the bayujing (White Jade Capital) barrier to A Liang (in the hope that he wouldn’t kill anyone) and punished the empress by confining her to the Changchun palace and depriving her of Yang Hua, her arm, by making her a river goddess. All this because, even if the emperor initially turned a blind eye to it, he is aware that attacking Chen Ping’an was problematic because even if A Liang hadn’t come, things would have gone this way anyway, since the Sage of Literature who is the chosen master for Chen Ping’an is one of the most important figures in Confucianism (even if he is currently in a particular situation) and would have certainly defended him and asked for explanations as to why a ruler dared to practice cultivation beyond the 5th level. Furthermore, let’s not forget that “the fairy sister” who chose Chen Ping’an as her master would have certainly protected him.
In short, the difficulties the protagonist faces on this very first journey lie not so much in the enemies he faces but in trying to remain true to himself despite the world around him having changed from the reality he knows.
I don’t recall Qi Jingchun choosing Chen Pingan as his younger brother. Could you explain this part further?
In the final episode of the first season, “Young Cui Chan” has a conversation with Qi Jingchun, who explains that he had long since realized Cui Chan’s plan. Cui Chan, after breaking away from the lineage of his master (The Sage of Literature), fell from the 12th Realm to the 10th Realm. He had been aware from the beginning of Qi Jingchun’s choice, which was due to the figure of Chen Ping’an himself. In order to return to the 12th Realm and continue on to the 14th Realm, Cui Chan split his soul in two, creating a “Young Cui Chan,” who went to the Lizhu Grotto-Heaven and formed a bond with Chen Ping’an with the aim of wearing out his mind and “disturbing his state of mind.” I’m referring to what happens when the boys are kidnapped and Chen Ping’an finds himself having to choose whether he really wants to risk his life needlessly to make this journey to accompany the boys to the academy, and this is not an obvious choice because Chen Ping’an, who has always lived in poverty, has now become rich and fears poverty and, as Qi Jingchun told him, “a gentleman does not save people at the cost of his own life” and that he can and must limit himself to doing his best to help the boys without necessarily having to feel guilty if he fails. Cui Chan did all this because he was convinced, like everyone else, that Chen Ping’an would be the person Qi Jingchun would choose as his direct disciple and hereditary member of his lineage (in fact, if you notice carefully, the young Cui Chan tells Chen Ping’an that he can call him “uncle” and this is because he was Qi Jingchun’s senior brother) in the hope of stealing the literary fortune and lineage of the Sage of Literature and Qi Jingchun, who was in the 14th realm and had the potential to even reach the 15th (only the founders of the 3 religions are at this level). However, Qi Jingchun revealed to him that he had chosen Li Baoping as his only direct disciple and that he had chosen Chen Ping’an as his master’s disciple and therefore as his junior brother (you have to think of the master as a father and the disciples as children, etc.).
It must also be said that in addition to the Dali imperial court, which was ungrateful towards Qi Jingchun, and the Taoist faction of Qingming Tanxia, which were directly responsible for his death, the figure of Chen Ping’an also played an important role in all of this. Initially, Chen Ping’an was destined to be a discarded pawn, used simply to attract good fortune that would later fall into the hands of the Dali prince Song Jixin/Mu. However, Chen Pingan clung to life with all his strength, resisted, and treated those around him with kindness (something not to be taken for granted). In doing so, it was as if this discarded pawn had re-entered the game, and in the end, with his tenacity and his pure heart, he was the pawn that increasingly pushed Qi Jingchun towards the decision he ultimately made. Shortly before his death, Qi Jingchun told Chen Ping’an that “a gentleman can deceive himself by his own principles.” He did so for two reasons: first, to warn everyone that they must act within the rules, and that he had been aware of his position from the beginning and had ultimately chosen to act that way anyway. Second, to ensure that Chen Ping’an would not feel guilty when he in the future will find out the reason for Qi Jingchun’s death.
If Cui Chan broke off from his master, how come this young him looks like he’s still under his master and also where exactly is this young Cui Chan at? I haven’t read the books and the donghua doesn’t really explain things well so it’s a little confusing.
Let’s start by saying that you’re right, donghua isn’t very easy to explain, but keep in mind that it’s much easier to explain things in a novel than in donghua, especially when it comes to a novel like Jian Lai, which is complicated even in the novel, where practically everything isn’t explained in detail until later (sometimes even 100-200 chapters later).
In the first season, there’s a scene where the imperial preceptor Cui Chan inserts part of his soul into the body of the young Cui Chan (who, as we see in the next episode, has decided to call himself Cui Dongshan) in order to obtain the literary fortune/lineage of Qi Jingchun. Thus Cui Dongshan formed a bond with Chen Ping’an, who was chosen as a disciple of the sage of literature (they say this in the last episode of the first season when Cui Dongshan threatens Qi Jingchun by telling him that his fate is now tied to that of Chen Ping’an), thus returning to the lineage of the master from whom he had previously separated. In addition to this bond, there is also the fact that the sage of literature (in addition to having severed the bond that united Cui Chan and Cui Dongshan, thus making them two distinct people) has forced Dongshan to become the student/disciple (the novel doesn’t explain the difference very well) of Chen Ping’an so that Cui Dongshan can learn and understand what it means to be a truly good person. Oh and keep in mind that the sage of literature (even if he is in a particular condition at the moment) is still a 14th cultivator and in the last ep of the first season Qi jingchun inhibited part of Cui Donghan’s cultivation causing him to fall into the 5 lower realms.
My personal advice is to carefully rewatch the first season, paying particular attention to the dialogue in the last episodes. I assure you that if you didn’t understand many things before, everything will be much clearer now. (P.S. in the first season, when they talk about “people behind the scenes,” they are one of the Taoist factions of Qingming Tanxia,
In this episode Cui Dongshan is still in the Li Zhu Grotto-Heaven
