So this one has finally ended, it was a pretty decent watch. Not one of my top ones but still good happy ending.
I think this was the second high budget animation Donghua to end after Soul Land. And BTTH will be the next in a couple of months.
This donghua had pretty good animation. I liked it initially as it was promising but story wise it had so many cringe moments and the usual tropes that I gave up months ago.
I would just read the comments to stay updated about the story but couldn’t bring myself to watch it

yes it was, I won’t deny the cringe moments and the “power of friendship” troupes it had. And even in terms of plot and animation, the demon Hunter is much better. This is like a Disneyfied version of the Demon Hunter that tencent made for kids. I think I stopped it around 100 eps ago too and just watched the finale..

Hahah not insulting it, said its much better donghua than ToS. I bought up demon hunter cause both this and Demon hunter is humans vs Demons scenario. But Demon hunter has more mature themes, better animation, better visuals, and even better plot.

The ending was like soul land, except the difference here is that Tang San was asked to enter the god realm and rule the council of the Gods.
Whereas here Hao Chen and Cai’er enters the mysterious gate with an unknown destiny.
So I guess it was an open ending, cause anything could happen next. 😅

Since it’s the end, i imagine that donghua replacing this one, is going to be Coiling Dragon, airing on April 30.
I mean technically it’s not going to replace the ongoing part of it though since CD is only 20 episodes fam. We do have Against the Gods Season 2 so we will be alright during Thursdays and we also have Big Brother.

I have to be honest. I don’t like to talk bad, but I hated the cringy moments so much. And it was good at the beginning but the ending was dull/mundane. I don’t like see entire episode dedicated to wedding only, I want see Austin Griffin, but no show him. So even more bad ending. It’s not even close to a masterpiece, just high budget animate, Hope we never see sequel again, all that budget money should be used for another better novel adapt. 🙂
Throne of Seal isn’t on my top favourites but is still way up there. Besides being my favourite genre, the graphics are stunning and the story has heart and its own twist. It’s the last episode so I’ll write a fair bit as acknowledgment and n2s.
Romance isn’t my thing, but this celebration was deserved, overdue for them and lovely. Both parties had their grand entrance, not just the bride, with Long Haochen arriving as a Prince on his magnificent steed, and Cai’er, besides the grand entrance, it was the first time I saw a bride arrive with blade in hand – worthy of her titles. Grandpa was enjoying himself a too much
The detail was beautiful. Everything from rings to outfits, setups around each couple and behaviours was perfectly set to match the bride & groom’s theme but each had unique touches that set off the individual.
Han Yu at the front of the groom’s retinue as befits his trusted brother-in-arms and sworn shield, was the perfect best man. Him and Yang Wenzhao looked incredibly handsome.
It was the first time I saw Lin Xin (Lychee girl) and Wang Yuanyuan (strong shield girl) in such feminine clothes and they were stunning.
The use of the sword by Zhang Fangfang to be granted his request, Baldie’s arrival announced by the blinding light of his shiny bald head, him and Feng Ling’er striking a pose at the top of their platform was another memorable moment, funny and in unique strong man fashion.
I loved the military band playing the wedding march in upbeat tempo.
Every member of Light of Dawn was accorded an entrance worthy of the State occasion this was.

I like that time was used more organically too. Rather than stretching the final fight out till the end, then rush through a happy conclusion, this last episode was all for savouring the blessings they fought for, for so long, so hard, and for which so many living creatures of their world died.
In this time of never-ending screen shows with their predictable prequel/remake/sequel, rinse-repeat cash cows, it’s great to see a tale play out to its natural conclusion and get real closure – with beginning, middle and end.

And Cai’er’s parents. Despite killing Haochen once, his Demon God Emperor grandad was kinder to him than her parents ever were to her until the realised she’s valuable.
I’d eject all three to the back table for pushy cold-hearted parents: last 2b served after all the good bits were picked and the food is cold. Reflect on all the years your kids didn’t even have that.

The only thing I’d say, it didn’t really need 34 mins, some things could have been wrapped up in less.
And I spoke too soon about the sequels and definite ending. The portal is the studio’s opening to keep milking it for all it’s worth. Still, it can be seen as a standalone story, besides backstories.
