before, i got tired of seeing fl being a part of super family. after watching swallowed star, i think MC met his FL too early. seeing all this powerful beautiful women feels like a waste hahahah. and our boy has way too many cheats dude has a legit army.

Although good ones would know how much emphasis any of these side characters (be it friend or foe) have in the story before they’re left behind without feeling too abrupt or lengthy
And sometimes they plan out recurring sides which pop up waaaaaay later in the story which we might not even remember properly 😂
The problem with this donghua now is due to how open the scope of the cultivation is now post-Earth, we just don’t have the same sense of scale, urgency, and goals anymore
Especially compared to others that are set predominantly in a broadly one scope/location like Renegade Immortal, A Will Eternal, Tales of Herding Gods, Jade Dynasty, etc.
Swallowed Star feels like they’re throwing characters and subplots as quick as they’re forgotten without as much additional support from the overarching goal/story
That’s my pet peeve with a lot of women design in many of these donghuas tbh
Fanservice and allure is all fine but there’s a point where things are just repetitively redundant
Like, too many of them share the same prepubescent wet dream body type with no story or character purpose beyond always ticking yes on the fanservice option despite things being quite censored for anything more

btw, i’m taking a moment to appreciate that cloud demon vine (moyun tang) has finally breakthrough to undying level! it’s very difficult for this species to breakthrough and the vine is having 216 branches if i remembered, it’s the highest possible level. the higher the level, the harder to breakthrough.
