Jade Dynasty Season 3 Episode 20 Indonesia, English Sub

Imho…most of the time MC is completely insufferable. Most times he could have cleared up the misunderstandings but instead held it in. I know he has reasons. They’re called plot devices lmao…Anyways, i get it. He’s a bleeding heart, old romantic who can only love one woman for all eternity, owes her his life and all that…

But come on, he was so insufferable! The first season was the worst offender and the second not so much. Yet even this season, he still showcases a lot of the same habits. I hope he’s developed further because it’s hard to even want to relate/identify.

What really keeps me coming back are the fights, ice waifu and the animation.

The music is almost there but imho i don’t even like any of the songs. I can tell they’re passionate and the heart is there but it subjectively doesn’t hit those chords for me. Im probably a minority here…

An aside….musical scores. osts. movie scores. the backround ost. 99% of donghua are absolute hot tr4ash with their osts. This one isn’t, i don’t ‘love’ them but they ARE well produced and way above 98% of the rest. They resonate and are well placed. They add so much to the production value. While not my favorite songs and osts, they’ve long since created a vibe and uniqueness for this story by giving it it’s own ‘melody’ or ‘rhythm’, so to speak.

And that’s just it, most donghua have movie preview, stock background sounds for each emotion but they’re all cookie cutter, cardboard cut out lazy nonsense.

The largest aspect of this medium that i see the Studios not capitalizing on are background scores.

Mortals Journey also has it’s own vibe. There are several unique songs that fill that stories universe with a certain feeling. But even those few great osts don’t genuinely fulfill the essence of said story and it’s milieu. They don’t take it to the next level such as something like Howard Shore’s OSTs for Lord of the Rings. Jade Dynasty doesn’t either but in this regard, i do believe it’s above Mortals Journey. (and really, it’s not fair comparing Howard Shore’s movie scores with anything, really, but you get the point)

Take for instance BTTH 3rd season? 3 year agreement song. The way they implemented that ED was a chef’s kiss. Just like Kyoukai no Kanata and that banger of an ED and the way they placed it towards the end of each episode. It added SO MUCH to the ending of each episode, imho.

While im actually talking about ost scores/backround scores and not the OP/ED of said stories, they apply all the same.

In conclusion, Donghua Studios need to start taking the musical score of their works more seriously because sound is 51% of the medium. China should really take note of the Anime industry. Japan has killed it with their musical scores in anime for decades. There’s alot of tr4sh too but i’d argue no less creativity and passion than the entertainment media here in the West (and that’s not to puff up the West but it’s hard to objectively say the West isn’t the Media Empire of the World.)

It gives a great idea of the level of passion and competence of the work being put into JUST THE MUSICAL SCORE of said anime. literally just the backround song! I personally can imagine “encounter” being the absolute greatest segwey into a cliffhanger with a huge battle taking place. (if you listen to it, you’d understand…if you like, i suggest listening to the entire OST album, its a top tier OST)

there’s so many banger anime osts (not even counting the OPs/EDs) Donghua Studios need to take notes!!!
