They chose the same template for their characters, so now they look almost alike, which makes the audience work harder to differentiate them from one another. It’s an interesting choice. And they shoehorn songs that, while pleasant to hear, are mistimed and extremely distracting. These guys aren’t telling a story, they’re showing off their skills. Must be auditioning for some other job, or promoting a product. I’m not a fan of this overly ornate, slo-mo heavy fancy graphics used for the sake of fanciness. To be honest, it makes me feel these guys aren’t really storytellers. This show also feels like an advertisement for songs, rather than a story to be told. You know when you take a bite out of something, and it’s too sweet/salty/bitter/etc., and as you consume it, the dish becomes overwhelming, you just can’t go on eating? That’s how this show comes across to me. Nice to watch, but that’s it. Shallow, basically.

Been bidding their time since Vietnam, plotting from the sidelines, now they’re starting the full on offensive, first with the old “borrowed knife” tactic, then when they take victory for granted they’ll show their true colours.

The song is so beautiful but I can only find it with a stationary image of Yun Wangshu or tons of crappy fan videos with Bollywood garbage plastered on top of the original soundtrack. Seriously, ruin a good thing like that, they should be deleted for butchering copyrighted material. 😤 It changes the character of the story completely. I think the leader bought the pin with sincerity (precious materials, she praises its clarity, the colours match XH’s style). She only became distant when Xi He asked something of her, AFTER the pin was bought. But after you’ve been burned you never put your hand near fire again.
