for once after a longtime I truly enjoyed of BTTH.
Ridiculous the fact that Xiao Yan always had to practice his alchemy to improve, but since the dumb academy arc and the fall of the show he has never done it again, yet he keeps leveling up and is a super duper alchemist because the script says so.
The anime didn’t explain (or maybe will explain in next episode.)
First of all, its not like they have to show all of his daily cultivation or alchemy practice. In the novels all of it is shown, but can’t be done for anime.
Secondly, the difference between rank 8 alchemist and rank 9 is like heaven and earth. There is no way it would have no explanation. And the explanation is simple really. He trained for it in his 100 bodhi reincarnations. Its an original recipe for “rank 9 treasure pill”. From the 100 reincarnations he got 2 things. 1 is the recipe and practice for making this pill and another is time to compress his Qi 9 times.
But to actually make this pill, he needed heavenly state soul. Which he got only after breaking through to Dou Sheng. So it is his first time to actually make the pill of course.
The anime is rushing through stuff Tbh.
Also, side trivia, there are 3 tiers in rank 9 pills, unlike the 9 tiers in rank 8 pills. They are treasure, mysterious, heavenly. After that is rank 10 pills.

Oh ok! I don’t read the novels or manhuas so I don’t really know what’s canon or what was changed in the adaptation, in this arc. I always saw Yun Yun as the most senior member after the Sect was broken up and I don’t really understand the difference from the Flower Sect, if they salvaged the remnants of the old Misty Cloud under a different name or if it was an entirely different thing.

In xianxia/xunahuan stories, ‘Clan Leader’ is just the current generation head. Elders could be older clan leaders or other strong men from past generations. Supreme elders are usually the ones with the highest authorities. Those 2 are supreme elders.
I liked the background music + sound effect when the ingredients were flowing into the water in golden orbs, it set off the magic of the place. Amazing how one shitty personality can make even that fade into the background.

Beating dead horse at this point, but the Jia Ma competition was the garbage one that did not follow canon and made it completely flashy for no reason. And this was the good one that mostly followed the canon.
In conclusion, Jia Ma competition was plain garbage. Considering the amount illogical things that broke canon or otherwise did not make sense.

Because no one qualifies for it. You need peak rank 8 alchemist to even qualify for entry lol. The world of BTTH is very small, and there aren’t that many rank 8 alchemists in the first place.
The Jia Ma Empire Pill Competition feels more exciting in the donghua because it has stronger emotional tension, personal rivalries, better build-up, and an unforgettable pill refinement scene — while the Pill Tower arc is more technical and less dramatic on-screen.
You know what pisses me off with BTTH –
They can have an entire episode for pill refining but cannot gives and entire episode or two with fighting..Not saying the Pill Refinement eps or boring, just saying.
One of the reason i love “Perfect world” they always give us long fights and two episodes in one to satisfy our cravings..even unimportant fights they still give us enough to wet our beaks. I will always love BTTH because its what got me into donghua’s but we need more fighting, longer fighting scenes.
The studio shortened and skip some of the fight scenes if I based it on light novel,
They’re trying to censor the bloodiest fight scenes, other reason is they’re rushing to finish this donghua and if you notice every episode is getting downgraded in terms of graphics, character designs and even plot consistency a lot of the important scenes from the light novel are not integrated in the donghua. . .
Seriously idk why they gave BTTH to this garbage studio. The company bosses hate it, the director hates it, the producers hate it, they bombed the names of original team members out of the original creds, they destroyed characters, plots, soul and story, censored what little was left, now you say they can’t wait to be done with it and are rushing and cutting important stuff left right and center.. WHY did they bid for this show? There’s loads of teams that would have loved it and treated it with the respect it deserved.
And because of the flak the studio gets, Xiao Yan is also getting a lot of hate from the fans as some people can’t separate the shoddy production work from a beloved character’s story. 🤬

I mean, the novel was also a beginner friendly surface level shoddy stuff as well. In reality, its bottom tier at best. Its like Naruto. Appeals to the masses, but is essentially garbage.
I only had a look at the first page of the manhua and the art isn’t exactly top tier but there’s a lot of good stuff to follow up on, pity they ditched it and barreled their way through made up crap.
This is already skipping so much character building it’s embarrassing. The novel just has more stuff like this, I actually quite enjoy this, no matter how poorly it’s executed. It was far more grand in the novel.
