They need to take notes from Shrouding, Demon Hunter, and a few other donghua; the fights in this show have gotten hella stale.

Pretty much – while he’s gotten a few new techniques over the years, the fighting style itself hasn’t really evolved ever since he got his Dou Qi wings way early on. The only difference is there are “spatial cracks” and bigger booms now.
I was so hyped for this show back when it started, but it just hasn’t “grown” at all, so to speak. In Demon Hunter, the fights have continually evolved, and they’ve done so over far fewer episodes; not only did they evolve in less time, but the MC evolved, devolved, and then evolved again in that time, and the fighting style has changed every step of the way. But in this show? It’s the same streak of light followed by brief clashes, and then he busts out a flipping seal or his little flame lotus. They reaaaally need to do something to make it interesting again. Demon Hunter, Renegade Immortal, and other shows are just leaving it in the dust.
Maybe they need to give it entirely to Shanghai Foch Studios (Renegade Immortal, Perfect World, Stellar Transformations, Full-Time Magister, 3000 Years of Qi Refinement, etc.) at least they do most of their fights justice.

True… BUT – it IS a LOOOOT better than it used to be! After the S1 cartoonish style with the colorful hairstyles got dropped and they introduced her in S2 with the current, slightly more realistic animation style, she seriously looked like she had Downs Syndrome, and little by little they have been correcting that mistake ever since then.
IDK if one of the animators hated her character and sabotaged her on purpose or had some weird kink for mentally retarded girls or what happened exactly, but I’m baffled that such a goofy looking model got green-lit and added to the show. Thankfully they have slowly been improving the model ever since, though IDK why they did it so incrementally – like, was it that hard to fix the model? Or were they worried that if they changed it quickly that people wouldn’t recognize her or would get angry that her look changed so fast? Obviously they know the previous model was trash, because every time they have “upgraded” Xun’er, they’ve done a “tease and reveal”, and on this last model, they even made the reveal an episode cliff-hanger and did a super-slow reveal, so I’m going to assume this is probably the final model.
Bro this series fell off hard, Censorship, re-used models (i dont even like xiao yans new model), re-used locations (that Gu realm looks same wind lightening pavilion upon closer inspections), same boring repetitive fights, minimal bland interactions, no personalities, skipping chapters, rushing arcs.

Yeah, the hype train for this show has definitely left the building. It has been stale ever since Medusa left XY’s side (not just saying that because I love Medu-mama’s model and temperament, but that’s just in general the point in time when it really got repetitive and boring).
Their fights have all looked like someone playing the old game “Snakes” for a while now with just colored lines weaving through the air and occasionally changing directions, and when they show a close-up of the clash it’s a few brief sword slashes or punches and either the person blocks it or flies through some floating island, and then MC either busts out his little fire lotus or flips some seal and still has to get rescued by his friends.
They need to give this entirely to Shanghai Foch Studios (Renegade Immoral, Perfect World, Stellar Transformations, etc), because they are completely dropping the ball now.

It’s not just the censorship – the fights have gotten boring as hell and all look the same. A couple streaks of light through the sky, a blocked punch or sword strike, a fire lotus or flipping seal, and MC’s friends come to his rescue – rinse and repeat.
It’s sad because it was cool at the start, but the fights never really evolved after the MC first “powered up” – aside from the “spatial cracks”, the fights still look almost exactly the same as they did when the MC first got his Dou Qi wings many seasons ago.
Sure, he’s gotten way stronger and is technically fighting stronger enemies, but the fights really don’t look any different than they did 4 seasons ago for the most part.
What a letdown.

but FR, you can’t blame that aspect on the donghua, because the LN and manhua both have his father’s search and rescue arc well after his shifu’s; it’d be a major deviation from the source to have him find his father before these other aspects. You’ll actually learn a little bit of why it doesn’t make sense from a storytelling standpoint sometime in the next few episodes.

90 percent of the time MC can’t kill his opponents is due to his damn blunt sword. If his sword had a sharp edge,all the fights would have ended in half the time it now takes. Since i watched this series i notiched the amount of times he hits his enemies with this damn sword is enough to kill 2 people in that same time this sword takes to just wound 1 person..and it always comes down to that damn lotus..i cringe everytime i hear him shout out that technique. same old MC always getting thrashed by powerful opponents and he always fails to kill them..
