It’s not that he likes risking to get the metal plates, it’s actually all to do with his teacher Sitting Mountain Guest.
STG placed all 5 metal plates in very dangerous places in order to put MC through tests fof his own. That’s why he’d told him to only go for the various plates when he’s at a certain level:

well the nine Luo swords require their luo disc to be complete and display max power. The elder from the Thorne Alliance has the disc and couple of swords already, and the luo swords and techniques are in sync with his universe laws and nature, so automatically, the North alliance and Hongmen alliance both just wanted the treasure so they can fetch a very good price from the Thorne Alliance, lol.
So it’s pretty much pointless for MC to have it atp.
