Man I liked how they did not give plot armour until the end and he was just getting beaten up, I hate it when a story just somehow gives so much plot armour to the mc that even at the start of the story they make him immensely strong to the point where hes already the strongest in his family. Feel like this is going to be a pretty decent story where the mc actually imporves and wins by learning rather than always cuz of plot armour. Not saying he shouldn’t have any after all he is the mc we can’t just have him die, but I like this ep a lot. I wish it was longer than 12 eps tho 🙁

In this context “family” isn’t really family (they aren’t necessarily siblings or blood related kin). Just think of it as any other form of politics where opposing factions fight for control.
That being said, a big problem with these shows is that they portray the protagonists father or clan head or w/e as someone who is a good leader that doesn’t deserve to be over thrown by the antagonists, and yet when we come into the story they are always incredibly weak and disadvantaged, implying they actually suck at ruling and is probably for the best that they do get replaced by the stronger and better organized factions.

so in the end he still relied on plot armor to win. Poor girl, had to sacrifice herself pointlessly. MC could just leave the family with his dad. They should’ve left as soon as the grand elder chose the enemy’s side and nobody tried to protest. This family isn’t worth the effort…
