While Bi Yao is lovable simply for the fact she never cared about politics or morals and only liked the MC for being himself and sacrificed herself for him in the end, Lu Xueqi is truly the “Best Girl” – she has always had a strong moral compass and has done her best to stand up for “the little guy”, while also trying to support the MC as best as she could within her moral framework, and she has always put the needs of the powerless above herself.
She now also has a healthy dose of skepticism regarding the motives and morals of the “righteous sects” which has opened her mind to the possibility that our boi isn’t as “evil” as the orthodox sects have made him out to be. She’s strong, smart, slightly skeptical, and beautiful to boot – a 10/10 for sure! Bi Yao is a slightly “stalker-ish” best friend, but Lu Xueqi is wifey material, 100%!!!

Yes, I love Bi Yao for protecting him always, when he was kneeling in the freezing snow, and later with her life, and for treasuring him for who he is. But I think most people (Gui Li included) confuse his debt of gratitude (deep affection, guilt and grief) with Love. Him and Lu Xueqi liked each other since childhood, way before Bi Yao showed up.
He never looked at Bi Yao the way he looked at Lu Xueqi when they were trapped inside that giant tree, by the monster black snake. That’s the look a man gives a woman; the way he looked at BY was more like to a little sister.
Xiao Bai is growing on me as a potential fl but only if something happened to or they change this to harem. Beautiful XB is a crazy strong beautiful ancient Goddess and leagues above any mortal✨🪷

ehm, xiao bai is a different league, alright? she’s old but she looks young, and she behaves youthfully. she’s truly a goddess among mortal. but i guess this is not harem. so yep no.

I still don’t like Lu Xueqi one bit, she’s still too self-righteous, inconsiderate, unfair and ungrateful. She repeatedly ignored the cruelties MC had gone through in their own sect, never stopping to question it, because she has no morality of her own. She also threw away their past relationship and trust like it was worthless, and even conveniently forgot that MC saved her goddamn life, specifically the time after becoming the “big bad evil man” she so despises.
All of it was swept under the rug when just a few episodes back she saw MC with a pile of corpses, and just up and decided “yep, HE did that, he is evil, let’s fucking murder him right now”. No pause, no questions, no trust, just 0 to nuclear on him. And it wasn’t the first time either. And she’d have succeeded if not for foxy.
That “moral framework” of hers is more of an “immoral framework” because it’s that twisted. Cool, she just started developing a spine and a brain like, what, the last episode? Not enough. In MC’s stead I’d cut my losses, learn my lesson, and move on because I for one for sure as shit wouldn’t want a wife or even a friend so self-absorbed that they’d murder me over a misunderstanding first and ask questions later.
did u forget her kneeling for him in the main aula defending him? also the time she stays with him during the time when being punished to kneel under the mount liu bo? she came alright. she tried. she’s not a perfect character. it’s not like she’s the type gonna say huh, i’m gonna elope and forget my master and my sect because their moral compass is questionable. honestly, even demonic sect moral compass is not that good either, where would she go then? that day during the end of season 2, she didn’t understand him and only seeing him during the part of berserking. so, it’s understandable she would stop him. well apparently, she stopped before stabbing him right? she even dropped her sword~ and the one who did the back-stabbing was that li xun. afterwards she was so angry to li xun undisguisedly. it’s a fuckin’ joke that the guy even think of marriage proposal. or the two sect elders are scheming like that to sell her. look. the girl’s struggling. and don’t forget. her parents was killed by demonic sect. she owed the sect for picking her up and raising her. much like xiaofan, until he was involved in that thing. she’s supposed to be full of hatred and murderous intent towards any demonic sect people. but she can’t hurt xiaofan. didn’t you see the whole drama of sword dance and so on? she said i will forget my 10 years of longing to you. in fact, what, she can’t forget him. in the end, she was even willing to die in mc’s hand if it can appease him. don’t you see? she’s a character full of struggles and she’s growing. she owes mc too much, but she saw mc was wronged by those righteous sect even from his childhood. how can she take it? but she also owed righteous sect teacher and she can’t leave. there’s a lot of struggle. in compare to bi yao. bi yao was great, but after that sacrifice? she stopped getting a chance of character development. she owed him life. and she can’t forget. even if xiaofan’s kindness in the past was not intended that way, it shaped her character, her growth and her struggle. in any case, the one who should die is dao xuan and those from burning incense valley. so i totally disagree with you being so extreme in things. ofc that’s dangerous, but that’s how the story develop. and this is the art of struggle. people character are just not one pole and that’s what make things interesting.

I never argued she is full evil. And despite you repeating “struggle” and “imperfect” you’re doing just a whole lot of justifying her stupidity and horrible behaviour.
It’s not a struggle between two things if she immediately accepts one of those things at the lightest push. It’s not a struggle if she sees her supposed friend and love, and the first thing popping into her mind is “let’s fucking murder him”. Her struggle should have been about trust issues because of what she was taught by people (in and out of her sect), and what she experienced and seen from the same people, as well as from MC and his demonic sect, and questioning the validity of ALL of it, trying to find the truth. She should’ve done that in season1 and if she did that, she wouldn’t have attacked MC once. But only now she started. The struggle should’ve been repaying her debt to the right people in a capacity that does not go against her ever-so-malleable moral compass, without accepting the twisted ways of her sect’s leadership, or even refusing to repay a debt to shitty people.
And now her struggle should be reflecting on all her decisions going back, questioning her own morality and hating herself for the horrible things she has done, and trying to right her numerous wrongs. She’s done none of that, mind you.
I said her stupidity and shittiness is too much for me to like her. Yes, she had positive characteristics/acts even before, and yes, she started to grow (just now, and only in baby steps but still). Great. Still nowhere near enough for me to like her.

yes, lu xueqi is a show off, or maybe the studio made her a show off. she’s indeed stronger than her peers. i believe she’s already as strong as elders. this is just estimate after all. but looking at it again, i believe lu xueqi has outdone herself. i think she’s not supposed to defeat that dragon looking beast that used red lightning. it’s interesting that she used the beast’s lightning as a catalyst to enhance her own strength and summon heavenly lightning. what’s that gold looking array at the end before she summon heavenly lightning using her sword as medium? usually gold looking stuff is either heavenly book or buddhist mantra. blue or green looking stuff is qingyun sect mantra. red, pink, purple, etc, they’re usually demonic sect mantra. i’d like to say, she’s stunning. that combo of ice and lightning is impeccable. hopefully she doesn’t push herself too hard. but then, she’s always like that haha..
finally we return to the demonic sect scene. their drama is going to end. lolol~ qin wuyan got stabbed. how satisfying. but from that same guy who stabbed dao xuan again. what a snake. he’s even more devious than demonic sect. twice doing that kind of thing. i have nothing more to say. honestly, the ending is satisfying!
