I’m not sure, but maybe instead of creating a new series whose success isn’t guaranteed, it’s better to just extend the existing one by adding more filler episodes. This is often done in donghua or anime series. As a result, viewers may forget the actual core of the story and end up watching merely out of habit and routine.

I dont get how his path is any different from the ‘evil’ gramp’s. The show is trying to make it seem his path is a balance between the two opposing perspectives, following fate and obeying heavens will vs self determination.
He literally chooses self determination by following his heart and his own path, which is in direct opposition of following fate and heavens will. And mind you, he had already come to this conclusion two freaking seasons ago.
