So Xiao Bai is the one who saved him, but seriously, though he is now so lost. Bro doesn’t even know what to do anymore. Our boi is full of depression that you can even feel through it from the screens. Xiaofan takes the number 1 spot as the most depressed protagonist in donghua history. 😢 😢 😢
I know some would say Wang Lin is also on that spot, but really, though he was able to find a way to bring Li Muwan back, whilst Xiaofan couldn’t, cause it’s in the script that he wasn’t able to bring Bi Yao back. It’s a sad road that he has to walk on, and he has to deal with the constant backlash of that Blood Devouring Bead that is consuming him to death. 😓 😓 😓
Even Lu Xueqi herself can’t even focus on her training anymore cause of Xiaofan. This freakin soft opera drama that’s going on right now, bro. This is why the 2 of them should’ve just left everything and lived on a mountain somewhere or something and left all of these troubles behind them for other people to deal with.

Xiaofan needs a hug and a friend. Wang Lin isn’t depressed because he always manages to find a way to pick himself back up and lock the fuck in. He kind of had to. He’s never had any support system. So he focuses on a goal: getting stronger to never be taken advantage of, seeking revenge, or preparing for danger.

Yea his goals are always conflicting, the way he sees his life debt to biyao, and his love for xueqi. Because we know it isnt exactly love for biyao. Either way this episode felt like little happened because only the Xueqi scene felt like progress, the rest we could infer just from the next movement of the beast tide. So they held the pass long enough for the civs to evacuate.
He definitely is still taking all that suffering cause of what happened to her. Our boi still blames himself even to this day that Biyao is in that position because of him. But he doesn’t think at all that she did all of that for him.
beast deity is playing villain good guy and bad guy here, testing things on every turn. doing emotional experiments.
bro, honestly while u might consider comparing xiaofan to wang lin. it’s a bit unreal. xiaofan’s world building will only revolve around that mortal world. and that’s it. i think next novel of xiao ding will actually involve immortal world. but wang lin is different, he basically cultivates until reality bends before him. like fourth step thingie. plus xiaofan story is not about him gaining absolute power and becoming undefiable being. he’s just a mortal struggling with guilt ridden heart, getting stronger only for the sake of repaying kindness of bi yao. meanwhile having his village exterminated was the root of all those problems making him go crazy after all this while, especially when the culprit was revealed to be that monk who taught him buddhist art. i mean, who can bear that kind of anger? and what, he falls into demonic path? kill him? wtf those qingyun hypocritical bastards. literally the village is in your jurisdiction. i don’t understand how their brain works.
