Merry Christmas to us! Glad to see this show back – I wasn’t aware they were coming out with another season so soon, so it was a rather pleasant surprise! It makes me wonder what the Japanese are doing where it takes them several years between seasons when they could just as easily keep a similar pace if they actually tried.
Right!? Have no idea why they do that? Used to think it takes soo long to make new seasons, but after started watching Donghua n seeing how they just keeps popping out new seasons every coupla months like it’s no big deal, now I just.. don’t know 😵💫
It’s faster to make 3D donghua in the long run. I believe once you make the models plus all the lengthy upfront stuff, you can pretty much re-use them and cut down subsequent production time. 2D requires you to make it frame by frame.

I haved mixed feelings about the AI water. Well I’m pretty sure thats AI, it doesn’t look like it’s part of the same engine they are using, along with last episode where that dude smashes a cup of tea.
It simultaneously looks pretty good and pretty bad and while I think AI can be a decent tool to help artists, it’s probably more likely a sign of AI slop Donghuas being around the corner soon.
