yeah, this is the same studio that did Apotheosis and Tomb Of The Fallen Gods S3; they don’t do their Male MC’s dirty like this, so why does the FMC get the “scorched earth” treatment? Japan does pretty good with FMCs and can have them strong and saving their loved ones, but it feels like China has to always make them tragic heroines for whatever stupid reason. Though even they (Japan) still occasionally fall into the “I need a strong man to save me” trap from the “knight in shining armor saves the princess, even if she’s strong AF” trope of years past, but it’s not *always* that trope in Japan. Here she doesn’t “need” a man to save her necessarily, but they’re still just going way, WAY over the line with the tragic heroine BS.
