It’s my first time watching a donghua with a female lead and I was a bit skeptical to watch it but I have to say that it’s pretty good so far. I like the story’s pacing and I like that there has been no unnecessary filler episodes, everything is straight and to the point (even tho it’s only been 6 episodes). Some may think it’s too fast pace but I think it works well in this case. The animation itself is absolutely gorgeous and make watching it worthwhile. I also love the outfit changes the fl go through each time she reaches a new level in her cultivation. This is not something that’s frequently seen in donghuas, at least not so quickly. It’s safe to say that she’s had more than 4 outfit changes in the span of 6 episodes.
I have to say that this donghua oddly reminds me of renegade immortal…… Is it just me?
Anyway, If you’re into donghuas with a decent amount of plot twist to keep you wondering what’s next or donghuas with top tier animation and decent fight scenes, then I think most of you can overlook the fact that it’s a female lead. To be honest, she’s not bad, she’s kinda over powered and she’s not being overly romanticized (like 3/4 of Japanese anime) and she doesn’t act like a damsel who needs saving all the damn time. She’s revenge driven and determined to take down all the bastards that hurt her.
That’s my take after only watching the episodes aired so far so my opinion might change as the story progresses.
