The Taoist Ancestor seems kind of dumb. The whole point of the catastrophe is to kill off powerful cultivators to return their spiritual energy to the world. So it shouldn’t matter who or what does the killing as long as it is done. but he keeps on insisting that it must follow the exact route that he created. Also the whole fate thing seems iffy. like if it was truly fate that lu ya would bring the catastrophe then why did he only live till now because the sages and Taoist ancestor intervened. fate means it will happen regardless of what one does to prevent it but yet it was easily preventable. so either their so called Fate is fake and just the will of the Tao or Taoist ancestor or the MC who could have gone against fate is not part of the fate of their world to begin with. but that would also be fate and means that now the Taoist ancestor and the sages are the ones going against fate.
