ehm.. u know the water god identity at first is a disguise look, kay..? he doesn’t wanna be identified as li changshou at all. which is why the original look in the novel is an old man look. if u see the chinese myth, officially taibai jinxing has the old man look. this is actually becoming true here, like literally this world is following the script from mc’s original world with several twists and turns, which is why he sealed that memory of him possibly becoming taibai jinxing, it’s dangerous. and the look of water god and taibai jinxing shouldn’t give any kinds of clue towards changshou’s identity or original body. but when i remember his master qi yuan died, maybe his identity was known, but only within sages circle. certainly not public knowledge. so yeah it’s still a disguise look. to throw off people. not to make some connection. which is why in the og novel yun xiao was joking to him, you’re actually young but you take the look of an old man… something like that~
