All things considered, the anime is soon gonna be overwhelmed with how swallowed star will become. The budget needed to actually make a proper adaption for this novel is too much. Luo Feng can create completely new technique every next chapter. He is not like Xiao Yan who keeps using the same flame lotus for a thousand chapters, no.
Luo Feng will have new treasures, new self created techniques, new methods, law methods and a lot more. The anime has been unable to properly do all this already, considering the world master arc is the craziest one, anime is probably gonna be a huge disappointment.
Yeah honestly I’ve felt this donghua’s aesthetic and design have gone rather repetitive once he reached the Virtual Universe competition stuff that’s barely earth related anymore
Like the world and set design doesn’t feel as inspired to me the longer it goes. Which is incomparable to other long running shows I’ve seen like Xian Ni & A Will Eternal
At least the newer donghua by this same studio, Tales of Herding Gods, have solid aesthetic and art direction so far
Honestly ToHG is probably in one of my top 10 in terms of art direction, even compared with other donghuas that may have better animation like When The Red Moon Appeared, Slay The Gods, or even To Be Hero X

At some point a lot of things deteriorate from what made the early parts interesting. From push to survival of the species, the various dangers from the planet (monsters) and the cosmos (sapient invaders), to the mystery surrounding the Earth (spaceships, relics, and why there are a lot of monsters)
But the longer the series go, the overarching things are just treated very hand-wavy much like the sci-fi elements, aesthetics, and character dynamics (which I know wasn’t its focus from the get go)
So we might get answers here and there but they’re pretty sparse/brief and rarely engaging
Like, at some point we kinda lost a sense of scale and achievement with winning fights & climbing up the cultivation too somehow
Honestly I’m not sure what exactly makes it so different from Xian Ni & A Will Eternal in that respect, because these two’s fights and cultivation dynamics never got stale
And we have a better understanding of the overall scale, story arc/goal, etc, in the two rather than Swallowed Star
In SS, things eventually feels like they’re just happening for whatever reason
yes! SS is still easily on my top 10 but nowadays is more like an aesthetic thing (the characters etc are insanely well made) and my liking for the characters.
But it becomes all about getting stronger “and it’s never enough and I must get even stronger”, it’s growth for the sake of growth.
The problem with a lot of Chinese/Japanese animation is that it doesn’t have a beginning, middle and end like a story should, it’s just milking it for all it’s worth. Even those they drop, they don’t give them proper closure but leave openings in case it’s profitable to come back.
If they can manage there budged well skip small stuff or bundle it up to have more budged for the big fight scenes would be nice. So far quality is looking good considering its an adaptation SS does have an advantage of it being in open space and its animation style is a bit easier to do flashy and look good still will be more costly when its not reusing a ton of previews moves and assets mhm
Variety of choice is a great thing but too many treasures and techniques etc also divides his strength.

nah bro, the pinch is kinda on the soft part of armor. similar to medieval armor, there are hard and soft parts. but it’s hard to imagine soft parts on that kind of armor.
