You should binged it fam.
It takes discipline, but I do that for some of my faves like A Will Eternal – 15 min episodes leave me irritated and wanting more, so I let it build for a month or 2 then binge for an evening.
You can certainly watch all of a season in one go by waiting till the end of the season, but you have to have the willpower to do so. I wouldn’t want to wait for the whole donghua to release though – at this rate you’d be an old geezer by the time it finishes, lol.
Binging the 3 as we speak.. so excited and sad for our boy. GL will need to dig deep to come out of the funk.

Damn, POV of Zhang Xiaofan losing all hope. Ngl, that’s depressing AF fam. Our boi’s freaking story is full of sadness. And he does blame himself for putting Bi Yao in that state. No arguments around that since she did sacrifice herself for him.
I wouldn’t even be surprised if he goes bonkers again bro. To him his life is basically meaningless now. But I still want to see how Lu Xueqi and Zhang Xiaofan become a thing in the future.
I’m always baffled watching him use the powers of Zen/Buddha. I still remember that he incorporates both Zen and Demon. 🔥🔥🔥 Holy shit!! Did he just saw a vision at the end?!? Qingyun Sect is going to get destroyed. And then he goes back to his depressing state again, damn. 🥲🥲🥲

me too. i want to have xueqi and xiaofan ended up together. i kinda searched the novel and read the epilogue. it seems to be true! so, i guess it’s good news.
it’s a shame bi yao didn’t resurrect that easily. and grand shaman is dead. so what’s her situation now? she’s still in hehuan bell but with more complete soul? aka forming primordial spirit?
btw, does jade dynasty have cultivation levels? i think so, i heard that they’re divided into 9 major levels. but the wiki only noted 8: mortal, earth, heaven, divine, immortal, sage, saint, god. dunno what’s the ninth.
Even idk what the hell level our boi is now fam. Since they don’t even seem to be cultivating, like Xiaofan is just going around with his depressing self and still be whooping people ass if they are bothering him.

btw, i saw the preview for ep. 4. it’s awesome~ i think some nobody tried to propose to xueqi for political marriage, but i heard they’re being refused coldly. and then zhang xiaofan finally meets her again! he said something like: zxf:gen wo zou ba (let’s go with me). lxq: qu na li? (where?) zxf: sui bian (wherever). tianya haijiao (to the edge of the sky and the end of the sea). damn so freakin poetic. can’t help but get amazed. so, who will get xueqi’s cold shoulder? can’t wait.
The evil guy did say smt like “A mere mortal …” so i guess he is still in the first phase. There are prolly levels within it asw.
The power scaling is weird tho – he was having problems facing a bunch of wild animals (granted, there were a lot) and he was having to mostly off them one at a time while running, but then he does shit like this where he’s floating in the air and sending spikes in all directions. At this point IDK if it’s the author or the donghua director making things feel so darned inconsistent.
And again, I feel like I missed something between S2 and S3 because this Beast God came out of nowhere as far as I can tell. And why is he interested in our boi? Is it because of our boi and his powers or because of his Devouring Pearl? Or a combo of the two?
Plus, where does one get the rice wine in large clay pots? The closest I can come is a box of sake, and slightly turning a little plastic spout while I turn my head sideways to catch the little stream of wine doesn’t quite have the same dramatic scenic impact of hoisting a large clay pot of wine to drown your sorrows. Though FYI I haven’t opened up the box of sake I picked up earlier today; tonight I’m drinking Sho Chiku Bai’s basic Junmai sake. It’s pretty good for the price – a bit tastier and more flavorful than the Gekkeikan Junmai I normally drown my daily life’s sorrows in.
I guess those were old pots from older times. Nowadays you’d struggle finding them anywhere, all the wine comes in fancy bottles. Or plain glass bottles.
If the poorly received sequel was any hints, (because its really bad) Biyao become the Avatar of the Great Mother worshiped by the Evil Cult. Though by then, the lines between Good and Evil had become a lot more blur. We’re talking about times when Qingyun, Incense Valley and the Zen Sound Monastery had fallen out of power.
Jade Dynasty’s Cultivation Level is more vague and more in-line with traditional Cultivation (it was written before Soul Land, BTTHs and Fanren made the commonly seen Cultivation Levels the meta in recent years)
So they used Qingyun Sect’s levels as a gauge.
Qingyun Sect’s skill is divided into 3 Major Stages named after the 3 Dao Ancestors in Chinese Mythology: Jade Clarity, Upper Clarity and Grand Clarit.
Jade Clarity has 9 Levels.
Upper Clarity has 6 Levels(Zhang Xiaofan and Lu Xueqi are at this level currently)
Grand Clarity has 3 Levels
Then there are those who are above the limits.
At present, Gui Li/Wraith can go up to Grand Clarity briefly if he utilize Taoist, Buddhist and Demonic powers at the same time.
Lu Xueqi can hold her own against him through her own genius.
Later, Gui Li/Wraith can go over the limits when his base level is higher.
Zhang Xiaofan resurrected from Wraith can go far above going over the limits when in the end, all are united in harmony.
These 3 still travelling together “scamming people” hahaha

But that’s it for my rant, altho I still hope that in the future somewhere by some kind of miracle Bi Yao comes back to life n takes back the 1st wife spot. But I know the very slim chances of it happening is bout none but one can still hope.
