I actually dropped Shrouding The Heavens because the first several episodes made it seem like it was going to be some shitty horror donghua; I only came back to it because a trusted fellow donghua watcher told me to keep on keeping on with it because it got pretty good (was either Sir Lancelot or Meeno that told me I should revisit it and see what it had become).
I don’t mind horror stuff, but it’s not something I tend to watch because it’s all just goofy to me and I end up laughing at it more than anything because “scary” shows/movies aren’t scary to me; the only “scary” thing that can really affect me are scary books, because my mind/imagination will conjure up the scariest possible thing to me, while shows/movies are what scares other people and I very rarely find that scary.
I like cultivation and fantasy donghua, and occasionally SciFi or military donghua, so if this was horror, I’d just move on. Thankfully, it looks more like a cultivation show.
Yah right, release the demon that no one in the mortal realm can defeat just to avenge your mother and kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people in the process.

macabre is right up my alley! I have always loved macabre stuff! I showed you my daughter’s recent macabre art with the mushrooms, right? I couldn’t be more proud and excited that she inherited my love of macabre things; I really haven’t pushed macabre stuff or showed her much of my preferences outside of getting her the book The Ghastlycrumb Tinies at some point, but that’s really all the exposure I’ve given her, and she has embraced the macabre element all on her own!
This show is pretty boring, dropped.
