It’s one of the best things I discovered while diving into the LoTM fandom. By the way, the video’s a tad spoilery.

Book differences. I’ll try not to spoil what happens unless I can tell the studio had omitted it.

• 1) This particular Tarot meet happened very early on, long before Klein had advanced to Clown. His advancement to Clown is ~80% into the first book and it was actually supervised by Reverend Crestet (Lv5 Spirit Warlock of the Sleepless path) from the Evernight Church’s main HQ after passing a mental examination from him. All the potion materials and formula for Lv8 Clown were given to Klein for free by the Reverend. Recall, the show is adapting the entire first book.

• 2) The Pier event (at ~65% of book) happened on a spur of the moment when a random Mandated Punisher lost control (and became a monster) and it was not an official assignment. Klein and Old Neil were at the black market which was near the pier when it happened. The owner of the black market and retired Tingen Mandated Punisher Captain Swain (Lv8 Folk of Rage of the Sailor pathway) asked for their help. Also, there is no over 50 yr old double pay in the book (sorry Old Neil).

The second time the 3-0782 relic was used in Morse Town, not the pier. The Pier event had nothing to do with spirits or wraiths. It seems the studio merged three events (Morse Town, Pier, Megose pregnancy surveillance); you can somewhat tell they’re rushing this.

The Morse Town event (~85% into the book; which I can say they have skipped) was orchestrated by Klein when he asked Azik Eggers to help him created a paranormal prank-like event with spirits, so he can have another chance with the relic to make the Flare Sun Charm after he got the ingredients to craft it. Btw Old Neil (Lv9 Mystery Pryer) wasn’t at Morse Town, he rarely leaves the lab/study due to his old age. The ones that participated were Dunn (Lv7 Nightmare of the Sleepless path), Kenley (Lv9 Corpse Collector), Klein (Lv8 Clown of the Seer path), and Leonard (Lv8 Midnight Poet of the Sleepless path).

Leonard was the one that joked in front of the villagers, not Old Neil. Megose never appeared in Morse Town, her pregnancy surveillance was only mentioned off-screen near the end of the first book (~95%) and it done by an unnamed Mandated Punisher. In Morse Town, Klein actually found a copy of a portrait of the first Baron Lamud from 1500 years ago and he looked like Azik down to the same location of his mole.

• 3) Swain was the former old friend of Old Neil, not this Mandated Punisher named Folan. There was no Folan in the first book. Swain did die at the pier, but that was because he fought a random mutated Lv8 Mandated Punisher with Old Neil, Klein and a couple other Mandated Punishers. Leonard was not at the pier fight. Swain was MVP in the fight and Klein did not act like a lucky dummy in the fight unlike here *facepalm*.

• 4) Old Neil never had a photograph with Celeste with good reason.

• 5) Klein’s Flaring Sun Charm x2 (OP charms) was made at the Morse Town’s church when no one (friend or foe) was around at day time, not on a swaying boat. When he crafting the two charms he was almost burned to death and in during the process, the Sun’s rays had temporarily shown even brighter than usual.

It’s too bad they were only given 13 episodes to adapt the first book.
Since they’re skipping the skills Klein can use at the moment and showing it in the show without explanation. I’ll just list them here. If I forget one just let me know.

Currently, Klein can use:

• Divination = Taught by Old Neil. Divine and then dream it up. If there’s not enough information, connection between diviner and the divined object/person/event in question. It will fail. If the divined object/person/event is of a lower sequence level than the diviner it will fail.
• Mediumship = Taught by Old Neil. Contact a soul of a corpse. It can be used to ask for information (like their potion formula, personal history etc..) if successful. Failure may result in damage of one’s spirit.
• Wall of Spirituality= Seal off an area and prevent spiritual leaks
• Summoning = Taught by Daly Smith (she’s the Lv7 Spirit Medium of the Corpse Collector path from episode 1) and confirmed to be safe by Azik. Normally, used to summon a spiritual messenger to private message someone, but Klein is an oddball due to the Fog. He can summon out his own ghost as a spiritual messenger and stuff spiritual objects within it to make it stronger and tangible. Any object inside the ghost upon de-summon appears back in the Fog. Leveling down in sequence will give it combat abilities.

• Cogitation = focus one’s spirit. Taught by Old Neil
• Spiritual Vision (toggled ability). Taught by Old Neil
• Spiritual Intuition (passive Seer ability)= keenly sense spiritual bodies/objects.
• Prediction (passive Clown ability) = randomly predict next opponent’s moves especially if they’re lethal.
• Paper Throw (passive Clown ability) = throw paper like it’s a dagger

Items:

• Slumber Charm = red sleep smoke. Taught by Old Neil
• Dream Charm = smoke that allows you to enter other people’s dreams. Taught by Old Neil
• Requiem Charm = smoke that calms people in the vicinity. Helps prevent loss of control. Taught by Old Neil
• Azik’s Copper Whistle = summons a 2 ft skeleton messenger that mails specifically to Azik.
• 2x Flaring Sun Charm = super OP charm. Made using the Eternal Blazing Sun God’s blood or alternatively His blessing. Taught by divining the origins of relic 3-0782, Mutated Sun Sacred Emblem, and peeking at the Eternal Blazing Sun God.
