Fame has nothing to do with it. The rents are astronomical all over the U.S. in major cities. Imagine your landlord charging you $1850 USD or more for a room, like the literal living room, in 2 bedroom apartment shared by 5 or 6 other people with only 1 bathroom.

Rent shouldn’t be greater than 40% of your income based on a living wage standard. If you’re working a regular job maybe in an office or even just blue collar work its not sustainable. The last thing you want to hear from someone is, “well NYC is a famous place.”

As someone who lived for a year in the Bronx and now lives in another famous place too, in the nation’s capital where rents are also crazy, I too don’t want to hear that excuse lol. Then with the cost of inflation driving the price of groceries, gas, utilities upwards it’s getting harder and harder for the average worker to live even halfway decently in the U.S.
