If you actually read the novel you would’ve know that’s how the story was written. It’s barely even alluded to in this donghua and mostly only subtext as homoeroticism/sexuality is illegal in China. Comments like this make me sick because you actively look down on queerness as something to be “othered,” and ignore the fact that the heterosexual relationships depicted here are ugly and full of betrayal.

Would Yun Wangshu/Xie He give trust or even empathy so easily again after her betrayal? Obviously not she clearly see’s herself from the past in Chiyang. Frankly Xie He experienced every form of betrayal – familial (adopted brother), friend (Mirage clan leader), lover (finance), sect (betrayal by elder who joined), and then finally intraclan (by the others who were in league to destroy her sect when they were supposed to be allied against demons together). Its a miracle she can trust anyone outside of her dragon sister.

Looking down on a story with yuri as a main pairing removes the complexity not only of what’s happening to the main character, but also of love and sexuality in general. Also every single person is human first, and not deserving of the derision simply upon the basis of sexuality, race, nor any other categorization people choose to create. Please try to gain maturity and free your thinking so as not to be a bigot in the future.
