I don't remember the episode but this was kinda similar to when some ancestor chased Wang Lin all the way to the void. He eventually got tired and gave up only for Wang Lin to turn around and start chasing him back. Xu Qing was like 'I'll catch him after he's exhausted all his cards'. Honestly I think it’s just trolls. BTTH is super popular, and there’s a subset of people that HATE that it’s not a perfect adaptation of the original story, so they’re as nasty as possible to attempt to make it a miserable experience for everyone else, too.

I just immediately ignore most negative commentary on the show. It’s angry people, not actual critique.

kinda interesting how they say he’s 15 but show him getting drunk in some of the episodes and the QR thing at the end talks about joining him on his spirit ship for a drink; I’m surprised all that slipped past the Chinese censors. Though maybe China isn’t as strict about it as Japan? In anime, even if they’re in some fantasy world they have reincarnated to or transferred to, they always say “I can’t drink, I’m underage” if they haven’t reached whatever the drinking age is in Japan.
